Marmalade in Old San Juan was amazing!!!

The food at Marmalade is wonderful. You'll need a reservation. Expensive but worth it.

We like Aguaviva for seafood.

I hope the OP will not mind if I broaden the request for SJ restaurant information.
I've been reading a bit about restaurants for a trip some months away. I wonder if anyone can comment on these places that sound as if they offer great food in a setting that is perhaps less touristy than some of the well-known places in OSJ. Would these be worth checking out for someone with limited time in the city? BODEGAS COMPOSTELA SANTELLA JOSE ENRIQUE Also, can anyone comment on recent meals at PIKAYO? (I've read very mixed reports since the move to the hotel) |
Anyone???

Ate at Pikayo on my last trip (March, 2011). Food and service were great -- had a better meal than at the museum location. (In terms of location alone, I really liked the museum location better; cool ambiance.)
Also seconding the vote for Aguaviva, but remember it's closed (at least for lunch) on Mondays. Went across the street to the Parrot Club and had a great lunch; the decor of the place is really colorful and fun. |
