Grenada is not much of a snorkeling destination. All of those lush rain forests and rivers and creeks mean lots of runoff, which tends to cloud the water. If you really want to snorkel, your best bet is to take a day trip to Sandy Island off Carriacou, or the Tobago Cays.

I agree that the snorkeling in Grenada is merely average, but I have still had a good time out in the water last summer. The two spots that were best when I was there are at Magazine Beach, not far from the Aquarium restaurant, and off the beach at LaLuna.

Other places the water was a little too cloudy. We never made it north of St. George's on the west coast, but I've read there is actually a snorkel trail with an underwater sculpture park not far from St. George's.

The island has so many charms, though, that I hardly missed the snorkeling.
