ocean front cottage at Little Dix Bay
Does anyone know which areas at Little Dix Bay have the quieter/nicer beaches? We are going for a week the end of October and I'd like to request one of the beachfront cottages by number. Anyone familiar with this?

There's only one long beach at LDB and it is never very crowded even in High season. Since October is "off-season" you are likely to find 10 times more empty lounge chairs than people. As far as which area is "quieter" the highest level of activity seems to occur near the watersports dock so you can ask for a room away from that area (sorry, can't remember room numbers).

I noticed two beach front cottages on either side of the 50 room numbers. Refer to the map on their website. Both of these are a stones throw from the beach and a nice short walk to the restaurant. You are going to love Little Dix Bay!

redman--sounds as if you have been to LDB before. Any other recommendations...trips, hikes etc. ? Is there much of a town nearby or not? We were at Caneel Bay five years ago and decided to try LDB this time. Looking forward to it. Thanks for your help about the room selection.

Terric-I would take advantage of the spa, its amazing! You can use the pool a 1/2 before and after your treatment. We hired a taxi to take us around the island. Its a small island and not much to see around town. I would take a day trip to the Baths (avoid times when cruise ships are in town). Little Dix offers beach drops which is nice. Its more of a place to go to just to relax.

Redman- Thanks for the reply. We pretty much thought it was a quiet kind of islandbut that is perfect for us. One other question- do you think the beachfront cottages are significantly nicer than a regular or premium room? I guess what I'm asking is is it worth the price difference since all the rooms seem to be close enough to the beach.
Thanks, Terri |
I would save the money and go with a Premium room. You'll spend most of your time outside the room and you can use the money you save at the spa. We stayed in a ground level prem. room which I liked better than the 2nd floor ones. Walk right out of your back porch to the beach. I did get a tour of the brand new junior suites and they are really nice but not on the beach, they are located behind the pool on a small hill. They have a huge porch and tub/and outdoor shower. I'd rather be close to the beach. Have a sunset dinner on the beach one night, well worth it. Remember there are no T.V.'s in any of the rooms.

redman: are you a snorkeler? did you have any really terrific snorkeling off any of the VG beaches?

I was over there last Thursday and saw four people on the beach, and no one in the pool. The beach is just ok,but it's alot nicer than Biras or BEYC.Not much to do on this Island except boating . Would definately go to The Baths but not on Saturday as this is when BEYC has their trip.
