Has anyone been to the Ocean Club resort in T & C lately? How are the villas? the food? the golf? Are there nearby restaurants? Nightlife? Any info would be great. Thanks.

I just got off the phone with them trying to decide if we should take our teens there for winter break instead of Beaches. She told me there are some 80 restaurants on T&C and to check out the website WhereWhenHow.com it tells all about the area. I'm still not sure what we are going to do.

I've never stayed at this resort, but we did walk up to it from the RWI down the beach. So I can't answer many of your questions, but I'll take a stab at some.

Nightlife? Well, TCI is not known for nightlife, but there are some restaurants/bars that have live entertainment some nights. All in all, if you're looking for a very active nightlife, TCI might not be the best place.

Nearby restaurants... well, this somewhat depends on your definition of nearby. Ocean Club is pretty much at the end of the row of resorts on the beach. They have their own restaurant, The Gecko Grill, but we didn't get there for dinner. Across the street is the golf course that has a very nice bar & grill where we went for a nice breakfast. I'm assuming that by nearby you mean walking distance? On the other side of Club Med from you is RWI, which has a nice restaurant. A little further down the road (probably a 20 min walk now) is Coco Bistro which was very good.

The other thing to consider is that the Ocean Club provides a shuttle to their sister resort, Ocean Club West which gets you many more restaurants within walking distance. From there Ports of Call, which has several nice small casual restaurants is an easy walk. I don't know how often, nor how late the shuttle runs, however.

Hope this has been somewhat helpful. If nothing else, it'll bump the request for info back up to the beginning.

I just got back from Provo last night. I met a couple staying at Ocean Club East who loved it there. I ate at the Gecko Grill and loved the plantain crusted grouper. Ocean Club West is better located. Everything is spread out so it depends if you like to walk or mind paying a lot for cabs or rent a car. I stayed at the Alexandra and walked on the beach 45 minutes to eat at the Gecko Grill. It was nice to be able to walk it off and from what I've heard, safe to do. Lots of restaurants in between. My recommendation for nightlife is to wait until you are there. Everything I read on the Internet was wrong about live music. I did find some, with dinner, 4 of the nights I was there. The best food I had was at the Coyaba at Coral Gardens. My second favorite was Anacouna. If you like conch, try the Orchid Bar at the Alexandra.

We stayed at Ocean Club last summer. We thought it was great. We had a spacious, well kept 2 bedroom condo for 2 adults and 3 kids (2 of which are teens). We felt completely comfortable letting even our 11 year old walk around the resort by themselves. Ocean Club is at the end of the beach and so was very quiet, which we liked. We were able to get around to a good number of restaurants by walking and taking the shuttle to Ocean Club West. Ocean Club also has a convenience store on site. If we (when?) return to Provo we would probably stay somewhere else because we like to try different places. But I would not hesitate to return to Ocean Club either.

We were in TCI, staying at the Royal West Indies Resort, and we absolutely loved it. Our most relaxing vacation which is what we were looking for. I would avoid Ocean Club West like the plague - there is construction on both sides. We walked through all the resorts and knew we made the right choice. The Mango Reef restaurant was excellent and the grounds beautiful. Nightlife - lots of mosquitoes!

I have stayed at the Ocean club four times it is a great property! The Gecko grille is excellent. i believe it is on the nicest stretch of beach, the staff is unique and adds to the flavor of the resort. Ocean club west has construction on both sides so you should take that into consideration, however it is new than Ocean club. i plan on returning for my Fifth stay towards the end of July.
if you are into diving use Caicos Adventures and Fifi one of the best experiences on the island!

We are at OCE right now...sitting by the pool and soon will be snorkeling. The shuttle between OCE and OCW runs until 10:30 pm, we've never waited more than 5 minutes for a ride. There is construction on both sides of OCW currently, not trully overwhelming... but it's still a bit annoying. The staff at OCW seems a little standoffish compared to OCE where they are warm and friendly...look for Jomo at the bar. We have eaten at all the restaurants at Ports of Call, the only bad thing on the menu has been the mushroom soup at Twenty One North. Coco Bistro is a nice dining experience under a canopy of palm trees, we chose this over Caicos Cafe. IGA (grocery store) is expensive, don't expect a bargain there. Got to go snorkel...hope this helps a bit.
