oc ean terrace inn- st. kitts
I have a business meeting scheduled in St. Kitts November 4-8, 2007 and would like to hear from anyone who has stayed at Ocean Terrace Inn, St. Kitts recently.
The postings I have found go back several years - and I'm looking for current, up to date information on the property - condition of rooms, cleanliness, safety, etc., etc. Thanks very much |
Ocean Terrace Inn is an "older" property but the place is well maintaind and the rooms are clean and well kept. The grounds are attractively landscaped. It is lcated in a safe area. This is a good place to stay if you want to be near Basseterre and you don't require 4-star luxury accomodations. The staff is friendly and helpful.

Hi there,
While I haven't stayed at Ocean Terrace Inn, we were in St. Kitts 2 years ago and loved it. You can find alot of opinions about Ocean Terrace if you go to the following web site which has postings from repeat visitors to St. Kitts and there are lots of postings about Ocean Terrace. There are also forums that will tell you what to do and see in St. Kitts and has alot of helpful tips. It is a very honest forum written by people who tell it like it is. The web site is myislands.myeyez.net Have fun! |
We stayed at OTI in December of last year. Unless it has undergone severe neglect, it was a fine place to stay. It's older and the decor is outdated, but the room was clean and spacious. It's in a nice location near Bassetterre. My trip review is here:

I enjoyed my stay at OTI and have been there many times over the years for dinner and drinks.
It is located in Fortlands, which is close to Basseterre the capital. The renovated rooms are clean, spacious and comfortable. The staff are very friendly and accommodating. I especially enjoyed their Friday night West Indian buffet and live steel band show. Althought they are not located on the beach they offer a complimentary shuttle to the beach. A website you might enjoy is www.discover-stkitts-nevis-beaches.com To bad you can't spend more time in St. Kitts. There is so much to see and do. |
OTI's chef just won an award for his fine cuisine!
Congrats Chef Austin. http://sknvibes.com/Business/NewsDetails.cfm/3727 |
A Traveler....what do you mean "safe area" ? as opposed to what ?? i'm looking to travel to st kitts and i wasn't aware there are safety issues except the usual "human nature". of course when i travel, i always keep my guard up... to a point, esp. to islands/countries i've not been to before ...but then i also like to vacation in places that don't have high crime rates.

well, the original poster was looking for comments on the safety, among other things, of OTI. A_Traveller was just reassuring him/her that it was in a safe location. It wasn't a comment about the relative safety of the rest of the island.

tess53 - ejcrow is correct. I was replying to OP's question about OTI's location - it is in a safe area. Nowhere in my post did I say or imply that there were any safety issues on St. Kitts.
In fact, the opposit is true! St. Kitts and it's sister island, Nevis, are very safe islands and tourists don't have anything to worry about as long as they use common sense. Unfortunately in this day and age any destination where there are more than 2 people can have crime and St. Kitts is no exception. |
OTI is located in Fortlands. My family lives in that neighbourhood and I have always felt safe there.
As in any destination, be aware of your surroundings, keep your doors locked at all times and valuables in a safe. |
