Northwest Point Resort and hotels in the Chalk Sound area
 

Does anyone know of any hotels in the Chalk Sound area? Or a less crowded area of Provo? All the places I see look like they are right at Grace Bay. Also, has anyone stayed at Northwest Point Resort? It is all by itself away from the other resorts. I was wondering if the snorkeling and swimming were any good there, or if maybe there were strong currents around it.

No hotels in Chalk Sound area, all is villas. You can't really swim in Chalk Sound, but it is the most incredible view you will ever see!
Close to Chalk Sould is Sapadilla Bay. Look into Crytal Sands Villa there, it's gorgeous and right on the beach. Sapadilla bay is very calm, very shallow. No real snorkeling there, but a great "picnic on the beach" or hanging out kind of beach.

Northwest Point is far from everything!!! It is not a full service resort. I have never seen the restaurant/bar open. You have to have a car, high clearance vehicle, with good shocks. The beachfront is usually very calm. Not the best snorkeling on the island, it's mostly grassy spots, (not coral) so sometimes some turtles will hang out. The beach is filled with grasses and seaweed. (I've never seen anyone IN the water there) The resort itself is pretty, kinda expensive for what you get though.

On Grace Bay, look into Le Vele or Villa Renaissance. They are never crowded. I've only seen, at the most, 4 people in front of Le Vele, sometimes no one.

There are also some private villas on Grace Bay with spectacular beachfronts. Look into Villa Oasis.

There are also some beautiful villas in the Turtle Tail area that will give you privacy in a beautiful setting. Once again, beautiful views, not the best swimming/snorkeling beach area.

Or, find a house in Turtle Cove Beach. This is also known as Smith's Reef, which is the best off the beach snorkeling on the island. Very nice houses.

We stayed a year ago in Chalk Sound at a villa - loved it. The roads are horrible - but kayaking in the sound is wonderful.

We just got back from Northwest Point and loved it. The roads didn't seem that bad to me - maybe they have recently been graded. A regular car was fine. The restaurant is now open everyday with drink and meal specials. Good food too!!! We snorkeled around the bend at the National Park. Really enjoyed ourselves and plan to go back again. Loved the peace and quiet at NWP.

GOSH It sounds like NW Point would be fine but others have put me off-- Im sure not with any bad motive- just being helpful. Beachlover2- How far to good snorkeling from NW Point? at the National Park? Can you do it on your own? Isnt it way better price than Turks and Caicos Club?

I don't think NWP is on the same level as T&C Club. IMO T&C Club is more luxe than NWP and in a more central location, so their rates are indeed higher. If you are ok having to drive farther to go to restaurants or the grocery store, then NWP might be fine. If being in a location that is more accessible to other dining options than just the place you are staying at is a consideration, then T&C Club would be the better choice.

Did they put street lights on the road to NWP?

The roads in Chalk Sound were resurfaced last year.
