Non-stop flights!
I lost my OAG guide and PDF download of timetables slow due to computer problems! Can anyone suggest a non-stop flight from Newark or JFK to a carribean island for weekend getaway?
Thank you |
Go online to Delta, American, USAir, JetBlue and Continental for suggestions.
JetBlue flies out of JFK to Nassau and Puerto Rico. Have a great time. |
Continental out of Newark to St Martin (SXM)

Or, as some brilliant fordorite told me, try kayak.com with the non-stop option.
I wish I had the document that you are referring to! I don't know what that is. |
Some flights are not daily, but only once or twice a week. Continental flies non-stop from Newark to:
-Nassau -Santo Domingo -Punta Cana -St. Maarten -Grand Cayman -Montego Bay -St. Thomas -San Juan -Antigua |
I'd select San Juan for just a weekend getaway from that list. You are literally, 10 minutes to the hotel strip and little travel logistics to deal with. Plus, San Juan has a lot to offer with casinos, beaches, restaurants and nightlife, along with a shorter flight than most of the others.

In addition to the others here, these two islands can be reached non stop from JFK :
1.Bermuda - not truly Caribbean, but an island nevertheless. 2.Jamaica |
...and Grenada on Air Jamaica I think.

Thank you everyone for great suggestions!

American to Barbados

Continental goes non-stop to Curacao on Sat. a lovely relaxation island with great snorkeling on the WEST END of the island on 6-7 bays (see Curacao thread) and very good to excellent restaurants) The best time to go is mid-Nov. to June 1st. Hotel rates best Nov-Dec. 20th and after April 15th to June 1st.A few interesting sights for a full day but that;s about it. You do need a car for 4-5 days for snorkeling and eating out but a week is not much more. Continental also has a non-stop out of Newark or JFK several days a week but care is in the range of $550. But youreally need 5 days to justify the cost but is quite wonderful.
