Non hotel food in Dorado Beach?
Hi. Will be staying at the Hyatt Dorado Beach for a few days in November. We are not at all familiar with the area and wonder if there are any nice local restaurants nearby so we can avoid the "hotel" food. Thanks

be sure to include Su Casa on the grounds of Dorado for dinner. Also the golf house is much quieter and pleasant for breakfast than the main dining room's buffet.

Unless you have a rental car you wil have to take all your meals at the Dorado or the Cerromar next door. Their are locals restaurants in the town of Dorado, about five miles east. There are also restaurants in Cerro Gordo, about 5 miles west.

A travel agent told me that Dorado has the best beaches but there isn't much else around. If you have a rental car then do as above poster has suggested. If a great beach is what you want, then Dorado is suppose to be one of the best. (so I was told.)

The beach at the Dorado is okay but it is not the best on the Island. It is a narrow beach with very little wave action. This is good if children are in the party. Also the pool is basic. The River Pool at the Cerromar is a fun experience. The Dorado is the place to go for a laid back resful vacation experience

Gail,we stayed at Embassy Suites, which is about 5 miles from Hyatt Dorado. I can't remember the name of the restaurant and they don't serve local Puerto Rican food. But,they do serve THE BEST Italian food we've ever tasted.<BR>From the Hyatt drive toward Embassy Suites. Just beyond ES,you'll see Kentucky Fried Chicken in the strip mall (Grande) The restaurant has a very Italian name and sits behind KFC. ENJOY!!

Thanks so much for all the replies! I guess we will end up renting a car for a few days at least. Will let you all know if we find any great restaurants!
