Nisbet or Four Seasons on Nevis?
My husband and I are torn choosing between the Four Seasons and Nisbet Plantation. We're leaning toward Nisbet (which receives very nice reviews overall) because it is slightly less expensive. However, we've read one review which stated that Nisbet "was unfortunately close to the airport." Is there a noise problem there? We have a good sense that the Four Seasons would be fabulous regardless...the real question is about Nisbet. Any thoughts? Thanks a bunch.

Good heavens, I didn't realize that the Nisbet is slightly less expensive than the Four Seasons. We stayed at the Four Seasons recently and visited Nisbets. There is absolutely no comparison. The only reason anyone would stay there is if it was a lot cheaper than FS. FS is probably the finest resort in the Carribean.

I would like to add something here - we stayed at Nisbet last year and it was WONDERFUL! We have never experienced such friendly, wonderful, thoughtful service anywhere. The dinner each night was the highlight - 5 courses (with choices between various options), all excellent. The location was great too, right on the beach. As for 4 seasons, it's probably beautiful - but personally I don't like these standardized chain places all that much. I read a comment "you can wake up there and don't know whether you're in San Francisco or the Caribbean" (so to speak). Nisbet plantation is really a hotel "of the island", so my vote goes to Nisbet!

Just one more comment about Nisbet, since I just noticed you also ask about airplane noise. We did were not bothered by that at all during our 2 weeks there. Twice a day a small propeller plane flies over - you have to really make an effort to hear it. So no problem there.

We have been discussing the same thing and are actually thinking of splitting our time. Here's why --
1) Money -- Nisbet is lots less expensive than 4 Seasons (with apologies to previous poster). Nisbet's rates include breakfast and dinner, I was comparing $390 at Nisbet with the meals to $550 at Four Seasons without the meals. A big difference.
2) There seem to be as many negative comments about the 4 Seasons as positive. For what they charge, I think it should be close to perfect!
3) We are going w/o our kids and hear the 4 Seasons has lots of kids any time of year.
4) We like smaller properties with island charm, which I think describes Nisbet.
5) My husband is an avid golfer and we want to at least experience the 4 Seasons for a few days so this is why we are considering 4 at Nisbet, 3 at 4 Seasons.
Hope this is helpful.
