Nightlife in St Kitts

I'm new to this site and have gotten some great tips on my soon to be trip to St Kitts. I was wondering if anyone had any recent tales of going out at night or any suggestions on what to do when the sun goes down. Last year my husband and I went to Jamaica and were in our room by 9PM b/c there was NOTHING going on at our resort or our surrounding areas. Would hope we have a different experience in St Kitts. Thanks to any suggestions!

Look for posts by Melissa5. She specifically noted in one of the threads I started that St. Kitts was NOT good for its nightlife.

St. Kitts is a fairly quiet island, especially in the off-season, and most of the evening entertainment/gathering is probably at the beach bars on South Frigate Bay.

You don't say where you are staying, but there is a casino at the Marriott, and a club. The end of June is the music festival, so there will be considerably more people around then.

I have been going to St. Kitts since I was a chld. (Family from there)

St. Kitts is not known for its great nightlife. Not like Cancun or Los Cabos!

Here are some options:

Marriott Casino & Disco
Mr. X's Shiggidy Shack for the Thursday night fire show and Saturday night for karaoke
Turtle Beach Bar & Grill - dinner & music

Go local with Bob & Elvis! Bar crawl & dinner. 5:30PM - midnight every Tuesday & Thursday's. Email [email protected]

I've heard excellent reviews about them.

A website you might find helpful is www.discover-stkitts-nevis-beaches.com

When are you going down? June 29-July 2nd is the 10th Annual Music Festival

Forgot to mention Ocean Terrace Inn's famous West Indian buffet on Friday nights and steel band show.

Bobsy's Restaurant located in Frigate Bay has live music as well.

I appreciate the responses! We are actually staying at the Marriott and we will be there on Saturday (June 3rd-9th) so we will miss the music festival. We aren't looking for anything crazy just somewhere we can meet some people and hang out.

The Shiggity Shack is a great place to hang out. You can take a quick walk from the mariott to the shack, you can also hang out at the Monkey Bar or Inons. I don't usually hang out at the mariott but I have heard that Tiger's can be quite a fun place if it is hopping!

For more info please stop by my forum for St. Kitts, there are some Mariott reviews and very recent trip reports. myislands.myeyez.net

I know you'll love your stay. we arrive on island on June 28th!

Have fun!

Walk down the street until you get to Timothy Beach Resort. The Shack is next door. www.mrxshiggidyshack.com

I enjoyed our recent trip to St. Kitts in February with hubby. However my one disappointment was that even though I researched where to go for dancing and music, and asked again to verify this with some locals, there was never any music or dancing in any of the expected places on St. Kitts!

In fact there was even a sign in one place boasting of a Sunday concert, (Turtle Beach area), but they must have cancelled it, no music!

The Marriott might have some type of nightlife, but we visited the Marriott one night and it really turned us off. It was so glitzy, and if we wanted glitzy, we would have headed for Vegas, NOT St. Kitts!

Our favorite evening on St. Kitts was watching the sun set at the casual Spratt Net restaurant, sipping local beers and chatting with the other guests on long wooden tables, waiting for our fish and lobster. No dancing, but fun people, good prices. Spratt Net is on the coast up past Basseterre, if I recall correctly. We were there in February 2006.

We found St. Kitts charming in its own unique way, but if night-life is super important to you, you are headed for the wrong island.

One night there was Kareoke at Mr. X's Shiggidy Shack next to Timothy Beach resort...however, the small crowd at the shack (yes it is a small shack on the beach) was mostly younger and much drunker than we were, so we watched briefly, feeling too old and too sober, and then went off on our own and just sat on our beach for a bit. That's night-life on St. Kitts, mostly!

If anyone is going to be in St. Kitts on July 4th, Mr. X's Shiggidy Shack is having a Fourth of July celebration.

There will be a live band, bonfire, fireworks and buffet dinner.

The buffet will consist of ribs, fresh mahi mahi, jerk & ginger chicken, stewed or curried conch, rice & beans, salads and a variety of local veggies.
