Newstead Belmont Hills Hotel
 

Am looking for recent review or opinions of Newstead Belmont Hills Hotel. We've had family stay there but not since late summer. Just wondering how it's fared with the recent economic situtation. It was highly recommended so we'll probably look to book shortly for around this Jun.

We just celebrated DH's birthday there last week with a cokctail party for 40, - can't speak for the rooms, but the bar/restaurant was great - fully booked, service was wonderful. There was also a wedding reception going on while we were there, so it's still attracting business.
(The hotel and golf course are not on the same property, just fyi.)

Well I'm satisfied. It's not empty and the Bar is getting high marks. I knew the golf course was a shuttle away. We had been looking and reading about all the other places for a while but it wasn't until Newstead was recommended that we looked at it. The people that went usually give good suggestions so when they told us about this place we knew it was worth looking into.

They also run a summertime ferry across the harbor to town - on Friday nights for end-of-the-week happy hour, the poolside waterfront bar is packed. DH plays at Belmont regularly, it's his favorite course here.

We had lunch there and looked at a room last summer and the room was gorgeous. Lunch was one of our best on the island. No beach of course, but close to hamilton and well done.

Just book Newstead for week of Jun 6th. I noticed there were other posts about what to see and where to eat. I'll check those out but might have a few additional question if you don't mind. Especially since we are arriving on a Sunday afternoon.

txgirlinbda - since we are staying at belmont I get to play their course (included). Since I might be able to squeeze in 2 rounds I would like to ask DH if it's worth trying Port Royal as well.

Just started looking for Sunday dinner so i might be back to the forum shortly. But I see that BLU has sunday dinner hours too..

DH didn't hesitate - said to play both courses if you had the chance. PR's course is fresh off a major upgrade for a recent PGA event.

I guess I should start by asking for suggestions for Sunday evening dinner. Im guessing that Sunday isn't a good nite for selections. Not many open and ferry probably has shorter hours. Would it be better off having our celebration dinner Sunday at Blu? They have Sunday dinner hours and we don't have to worry about transportation, plus the Hotel can arrange it all. Then we can go casual the rest of the week. Just a little FYI - we land Sunday around 2:50pm and don't have any plans for Sunday besides enjoying the sunset!

Blu is the ideal spot for sunset. You are right that Sundays are limited ferry service days and many of the restaurants are closed. On Sunday brunch is a popular meal option and the brunch at Fourways, not too far from Newstead, is very good. Of course, Beau Rivage is a very highly rated restaurant and you should try it during your stay.

I think we'll arrive too late for brunch. If the flight is on time and have we mininum delays at airport, we probably won't get settled at the hotel after 4pm, so we will concentrate on dinner. Im sure we'll be hitting Beau Rivage later in the week since it's right downstairs. Any idea when the summer ferry schedule is out? Gotta plan our visits into Hamliton and Dockyard. I know that Newstead's got a boat into Hamilton so need to get the times for the return trip.

OK confirmed Blu for Sunday. Now where do I got to reserve a nice sunset? One day down and a few more to go. I know we'll want to have a few lunches or dinners in Hamliton but unsure of which day. So I'll begin making a list of possible places and ask for opinions in the next few weeks. Plus I hear the summer ferry schedule comes out mid-april. In the mean time I'll setting up a few rounds of golf. I've got my sights set on Newstead and PR.

Also, just wanted to give anyone reading a heads up. If your reservation requires a deposit, you might want to make sure they charge you. I had a rate adjustment applied to my reservation and because they manually changed the rate the system didn't charge the deposit. At first I thought I was lucky but then thought better. I didn't want them to say because there was no deposit on my account they did not hold the reservation. So I made sure I they processed the deposit and recvd an authorization number and updated confirm statement. Just wanted to pass along some info..

Anyone got an opinion on the Glass Bottom Tour company "Aquatic Bermuda". I've read only good things and wanted to see if it was too good to be true. Figured i'd start checking on sightseeing and boat tours. Gotta go glass bottomed in Bermuda right?

We use Fantasea when visitors come and have always been happy with their services. They have a range of tour options. That said, I kind of consider the glass-bottom boat fun for the kids - I think you'd get a much better experience out of a snorkel trip, if you are up for that.

Sorry been busy lately.. Aren't we all kids anyway! LOL We really aren't snorkel people so we'll stick probably go with the glass-bottom or sightseeing tours.

Hi, my family owns a unit at the NBH, so we have been down there 6-7 times in the last couple of years. If you have any questions, please ask.

Basically we are pretty much set. I was wondering if anything's been going on the last week or so. We are under 3 weeks and counting. Any last minute stuff we need to know about. Plus I heard that 9 beaches is closing for the year. First Elbow, now this, I hope it's not spreading.

The word is 9 Beaches has been taken over by someone who wants to thoroughly upgrade the whole property - it's actually on Govt-owned land, I think that deal is pretty stable. There hasn't been anything too exciting going on - I mean, the biggest thing affecting tourists right now is the fact that HAL's small cruise ship keeps docking in Hamilton instead of it's scheduled stop in St. George's, because the water is too rough for it to be tendered in St. G, and in Hamilton they are dockside. Whoopdedoo. Other than that, there's been a little roughhousing in some of the clubs late at night, so you might see an increased police presence after hours. Weather's starting to warm up, dress lightly but conservatively. Restaurants really enforce the dress code in the summer. Do you have any specific concerns?
