NEW YEARS EVE 2005

My wife and I are going to be on a sailing vacation, in the Genadines, this year that ends on New Years Eve day.

We were wanting to find a nice fun hotel or resort on either Bequia or St Vincent, for a couple of days, to enjoy the new year. Price is not an issue.

Any suggestions?

Young Island just off the coast of St.Vincent, Salt Whistle Bay,Mayreau, on Bequia larger # of accommodations. Curious x posts here and traveltalkonline. He/she has a wealth of info to offer. SVG are my favorite islands to visit.

Thanks vinceygirl for the info. Do you have a favorite Bequia hotel? Preferably one far enough away from the action so we can sleep, but close enough to get a cab for a night out.

What would be the best place to spend New Year's Eve on Bequia? Where's the party?

Never stay on Bequia. Have friends who live on St.Vincent so my visits are either day trips or on the water.
I always stay in Indian Bay across from Young Island on the mainland.
The NYE party would most likely be in Port Elizabeth. Friendship bay seems to be a frequently mentioned destination for island lodging. Peruse www.caribbeantravelforums.com I think that's the correct website for vast amount of info. Trip advisor is another one. I just booked airfare to SVG for beginning of Dec on expedia. Pretty good price, actually I paid almost the same amt this time last yr for the identical itinerary.

We might also consider Barbados. If you had to choose between Bequia, St. Vincent and Barbados, to spend New Year's Eve, which would you choose and where would you stay?

I've never spent much time on Barbados. Usually only there for flight connections. Did spend the day there a number of yrs ago but found it to much like what I was trying to escape. I like to get out and about so prefer to avoid resorts opting for the less traveled road.
