Nevis Villas....help please

It's not working out on Harbour Island. And maybe I should aim for something warmer.

So, now I'm exploring villas in Nevis, still for the month of February.

I would so appreciate any feedback on the following :

Moon Hill
Tigh-na-Mara
Amazing Grace
Taint Maine...you know why I checked that one ;-)
The Beach House....near Nisbet Plantation ?

I received a lovely, prompt reply from the gentleman who represents The Beach House. It is available for the entire month.

But I would love first-hand guidance/advice from friends here :-) !

Thanks !
Marion

Several years back I was looking at Amazing Grace as a place to stay on Nevis. The owner at that time was very responsive to e-mails and interestingly lived in Maine.

Thanks Roberto,

If the owners of Amazing Grace are from Maine, they will probably be in residence on Nevis in February ;-)

Taint Maine is also owned by Mainers...so I'm sure they'll be escaping too.

And to add one more to the previous list, anyone have information on Secret Garden. It is available.

Thanks !

Marion

I have stayed at Amazing Grace and it is wonderful.

Ben and Marilyn - the owners - do live on an island in Maine, and they do stay in the villa each November through April.

Marion:

Did you look at Black Sand Cove? It looks lovely; I've looked at it better for curiousity's sake.

Here's the link: http://www.vrbo.com/29030

Thanks Mah !

I did look at Black Sand Cove and loved it !

But it's booked for most of February.

In searching the archives here, I found nevis1.com which is a terrific site, with many villa listings.

I've typed a lot of emails and now I'll just wait to hear from people.

Patience is not one of my virtues, which comes as no surprise to anyone here ;-) !

I hope things will work out for you on Anguilla. I really loved it there...but it is definitely a place for couples.

I second EJ's suggestion of reading "A Trip to the Beach" .

Thanks again...
Marion

Marion - I will post later with some info on villas for you. In the meantime, if you would like to look at www.nevishouses.com - has villas for rent.

Hi Mim,

Thanks ! I had looked at nevishouses.com and the one I liked was beyond my budget.

I'd love to have any information you'd like to email. That's very thoughtful of you.

Please everyone be NICE ;-). I already have a mailbox full of *weird* posts ;-) !

Thanks again MIM

Highly recommend Villa Caribbean www.villacaribbean.com

I have visited this property in Nevis. Breathtaking views with a gourmet cook. Recommended for honeymooners, and people requiring lots of R&R.

Thanks Liz,for your suggestions, I appreciate it.

Mim, you have been so helpful :-)

Many of the properties are booked fully and I am absolutely amazed at how many owners are from Maine ! But I certainly understand their need for the February escape !

I did hear, this evening, from the owner of Tigh-na-Mara and she has availability.

This villa is "across the street" from Oaulie Beach and seems to have everything I'd need. Owner is sending recent photos tomorrow.

So...before I get down to decision time, I'd love to hear opinions on the location and the beach.

Thanks again to all for your help !

Marion

Marion - that is great it is available. It is a great location, right by the beach in walking distance. I think I told you also that the owners just put in a new pool. There is a hotel and restaurant right on the beach, so its really a great location. The beach is nice and it is of course nice to have a pool.:)

My husband and I stayed at Moon Hill villa in Nevis for 2 weeks in November 2004.

It is NOT a grand, luxurious villa, but was comfortable enough for the 2 of us. It is old, maybe a bit run down, but everything was in working order. Personally, a good deal at the off-season rate, which we had paid, I don't think I would have been as pleased if I had paid the in season rate.

There is one guest room with queen bed, the other has twins. The pool is nice and has 2 loungers. We loved the terrace and sat there most mornings with coffee, and after supper with some wine or rum punch. We were actually there for a full moon and loved the effect of the moon on the water.

The cook when we were there was Tessie and the food she prepared was good. It was fun to do the food shopping with the list she provided.

The villa is on lovely grounds, very private. A rental vehicle is a must so that you can get around, though the villa owner can arrange for you at a good rate.

Let me know if you have any questions.

Thanks for taking the time to post about Moon Hill. I really appreciate it.

I've been lucky enough to have a little *insider* information and learned that Moon Hill was probably a little too isolated for a solo traveler.

Thanks again !

Marion

Moonhill is the villa I mentioned in an earlier post. www.villacaribbean.com

If you have a car it shouldn't be to isolated. It is quiet there, but a short drive to the beach, town, restaurants.
