Nevis villa input
We're planning a trip to Nevis in April and have narrowed our choices to a few villas: YellowBird, Vista del Mar, Deja View and Me Hideaway. Has anybody stayed at any of these villas? Each has its own advantages, and they are all located in different areas: YellowBird is close to Oualie Beach, Vista del Mar is inland, near Montpelier, Deja View is near the 4 Seasons and Me Hideaway in near Golden Rock. Never having been to Nevis, it's hard for us to judge which location would suit us.
Thanks!
Thanks!

UM. I have stayed at Me Hideaway and would never consider it again.
We called it Me Rat-away. Enough said.
Try Amazing Grace. Just super and in a great location (Montpelier) with stunning views. Sometimes the owners are there that time of year, so check with them. Highly recommend it...

We stayed at Allamanda, just above Oualie beach, last year. We loved the location: walking distance to the beach (small, but great swimming), and the Oualie Beach hotel (decent, not great food, and a sometimes sleepy, sometimes rocking little bar). So if being this close to a beach is important, based soley on location I'd choose YellowBird. Others would be a drive to a beach, but that's not that hard on Nevis either. BTW, we absolutely loved Nevis--two trips there--got married there last year.

Thanks very much for the responses so far. I appreciate your candor, Diana. Wonder if it's because the villa is in that location??
Unfortunately, Amazing Grace will be owner-occupied during April, we thought it looked wonderful also.

Very possibly. It is in the midst of very heavy foliage, but there were other "issues" also, not the least of which was the swimming pool drained by a level of about three feet overnight and would have completely drained had my husband not turned off the pump (which had a major leak).
The downstairs bedrooms were very dark and dank and smelled of mildew (it was just the two of us, so we stayed upstairs), the windows in the upper bedroom were too small and high to provide any cross ventilation, the view is very limited and very small due to the altitude and the lush foliage, and the drive up there is long and torturous.
The bed in the upstairs master is not very good quality, the bugs and heat were horrendous, you have to go OUTSIDE and use a small curious circular staircase to get from the upstairs to the downstairs, but
other than that, I loved it!
No, just kidding. Seriously, I'd pick another villa.

What about Hurricane Cove Bungalows? They're on my short list for Nevis, a place I've always wanted to visit. They get great reviews too.

They are on my short list too. (HCB)
They have one of the best views on the island imho - over the channel to St Kitts - yet are close to the water.
I think their high season rates are a little steep for the "rusticity" of the accommodations, but I would like to give it a try next time we go in off-season.

This discussion has motivated us to make a decision: Deja View. We also looked into Hurricane Cove, but even in low season it's pricier than many of the private villas which offer 1-bedroom, off-season rates (though the start of low season varies depending who you talk to). We've rented villas in Anguilla and St. Barts in the past and have stayed in far nicer accomodations for less than most comparable hotels.
The website www.nevis1.com has a pretty big list of villas, and if you enter "villa rental nevis" in a search engine you'll find some others.
Now we just need to gather info on the best places to eat :~).

adlmllr,
Excellent choice, Deja View is a lovely villa and great price. You'll be near Charlestown and not far from the airport so its a good location. You'll need a car, driving is a piece of cake, its on the left but I'm sure you already know that. Take a day and just do a circle tour of the island. Great place, I loved Nevis. Have a great trip.
