Nevis trip report, March 2006

We returned last Friday from a week in Nevis. It was the first time we had stayed on the island, though we had taken day trips from St. Kitts a couple of times over the years.

We had a wonderful week staying at the Hermitage (www.hermitagenevis.com). It is a beautiful inn, with a real welcoming, homey atmosphere. Ate most of our meals there, and the breakfasts and dinners are excellent.

There is always a choice of entrees, and included fish, meat, chicken, and pasta.

We spent time at Lover's Beach, Oualie Beach, and Nisbet Beach, having good beach lunches at both Oualie and Nisbet.

The highlight of the trip was a half-day sail and snorkeling trip on the Star with Irene and Steve (www.starmonkeys.com).

My full report can be found at http://tinyurl.com/os8k8, which is on the myeyez.net St. Kitts/Nevis forum.

Thanks CW for such a great trip report. You made me feel like I was right there with you as I read it. We ate dinner at the Hermitage one night while in Nevis and I agree that it was quite charming and they absolutely had the best rum punch on the island. I want to grab a plane and go back right now!

Thanks Laby. The Hermitage was heavenly. Driving around the island, it looked, at least from the outside, that it would be hard to stay anywhere that wasn't nice.

Knowing:
It's pretty gray here right now, and all I want to do is go to the airport and get on the next flight back!

CW - thanks for the report, somehow I missed it the other day. The Hermitage is wonderful. The last time I was in Nevis I had the most wonderful dinner there. This time next week I will be back in Nevis, and hopefully will make it to the Hermitage, maybe for breakfast this time

MIM, I know you'll have a wonderful trip. We had really nice weather when we were there, in fact it was getting a little dry.

I loved the Hermitage breakfasts. Hmmm . . . I can taste the West Indian omelet now, and the crispy coconut french toast. Breakfast at home just doesn't compare.

Enjoy!
