Nevis, my TR will soon come...Promise
I have received several gentle reminders from respected posters that I still need to do a Nevis trip report :-)
As soon as there is some break in this heat, I will happily write it. Meanwhile, I'm stealing a line used here..."Ahhhh Nevis" :-) I loved the island, and most especially the people ! Nisbet Plantation is now higher on my list than Jamaica Inn. I love both, but Nisbet is really special ! Marion My sympathy to anyone out there who lives wiithout AC ;-) I only have ceiling fans, becausewe don't *need* AC up *heah* on the coast of Maone. Ayuh...'taint so ;-) |
Marion,
I'm eagerly awaiting your Nevis and Nisbet trip report. We're going to Akumal/Puerta Aventuras (Riviera Maya, Mx) next month, but we are considering Nevis and Nisbet for next summer. Nisbet looks fantastic and I can't wait to hear more details! |
Marion - I've probaby missed any good gossip but how did the wedding go?
Did you manage to fnd my response to you JI verus NP mail. N prefers NP and I do think the main difference is that at JI you go 'down to dinner' and at NP you go 'out to dinner' I'm taking any opportunity to get into the the pool and cool off :-) I saw a hummingbird moth for the first time today - so cute! |
Marion,
I feel for you guys up North! My son is in NH right now and said that it is very hot!...but still not as hot as NC where it is around 100 degrees.:( Glad to hear that you had a good trip to Nevis. Christie |
Yes, but Christie, I'd bet you have a/c where you are in NC! ;)
Marion, I'm delighted that you loved Nevis and Nisbet! I know you fell heart & soul in love with Treasure Beach, and I agree that TB is a rare gem. But Nevis has its own siren call for me, too, and I hoped it would do the same for you. Looking forward to your TR when you get the chance to write it. I'm lucky enough to have a/c in my house, but not at work. When I left work yesterday the thermostat read 90 inside. Eeeeep! |
I'm so glad you enjoyed Nevis, and I'm looking forward to your trip report (and also to some cooler temps.!)

ej,
Yes we do have AC..but most homes in the mountains of NC do not have AC which would be too hot for me some days. Christie |
EJ
Come visit - we have central air and a guest room :-) I haven't spent too much time outside the last few days it has been way too warm! |
thanks, alya! i'll bring the Ting & Red Stripe and we can sit out the heat wave in comfort!
|
EJ,
Bringing beverages? FAB! Forget the Ting though :-D Thankfully it is cooler here in MA today |
Marion - so glad to hear that you loved Nevis. I knew you would :) Also, sorry that you did not have a chance to meet my mom. She called several times and left messages for you at the hotel, but I guess you were not able to connect. Look forward to your report! Hope it cools off for you soon! :)

Hi MIM,
I was disappointed not to connect with your mom Due to my *condition*, I was not able to stay at Montpelier. If I couldn't walk around at Nisbet, I certainly would have been at risk at Montpelier. So if your mom was trying to reach me at Montpelier, that could be the problem. I did take an island taxi tour and arrived at Montpelier to explain the situation. They were so gracious and more than fair in charging me only a 5% handling fee rather than the three night deposit. For that alonw, I will recommend Montpelier. However, from what I was able to see of The Hermitage, that would be my choice for a mountain venue, next time :-) I was very impressed with the location and VIEW from Mount Nevis Hotel. I do understand that they are starting to sell units as time shares/condos. Please extend my apologies to your mom for being impossible to reach. I look forward to meeting her on another trip ! Marion |
Marion,
We stayed at the Hermitage in March and enjoyed it very much. I'm interested in your comment about it. I'll be patient and await your report. Hope you are improving. CW |
CW,
It was because of your trip report and your kind advice that I definitely considered Hermitage in addition to Montpelier. I was determinded to see as much of Nevis as I could. I think I was struck by the authentic *feel* of the Hermitage, as well as the glorious flowers and the birds. I almost felt I was visiting a private aviary ;-) The woman who drove me said it's her favorite on the island. I think the opinion of a local is one to be respected ;-) Medical appointment on Wednesday, and we'll see where I go from there (it won't be to surgery !) ! Thanks for your concern, I appreciate it. Marion,
I'll keep my fingers crossed that on Wednesday you hear good news. At least the awful heat finally gave way. CW |
