Negril to Treasure Beach

I am staying in Negril for 10 days later this month, and it seems that there is a great deal to see and experience en route from Negril to Treasure beach. A few key questions:

1. Is it better to rent a car for the day and do a day trip, or hire a cab/driver?

2. Can this trip, with all appropriate stops along the way for photos, experiences, eating, be done in one day, or should I split into two?

3. Should I do this via boat trip down the coast instead, and have a driver meet me there for return to Negril?

4. What are the 4 or 5 must sees and dos along the way, including beautiful sights, towns, markets, beaches, food, etc.

Thanks!

Sala and Sienna Kerr at Talk of the Town Tours in Negril and Carolyn Barrett of Barrett Adventures are good guides for a do-able in a day excursion from Negril to TB. En route, a stop in Sav, a bustling market town;Paradise
Park for horseback riding thru surf/meadow/Taino archaeological digs;
Peter Tosh mausoleum in Belmont;the market and Jimmy's restaurant harborside in Whitehouse or fish and bammy from the roadside sellers at Scott's Cove. You can get a boatman
in Black River to ferry you out to Pelican Bar and up Black River -- or
proceed to TB, having arranged for a boatman there to do the coastal cruise to the above,your driver meeting you
back in Black River. Stay overnight at
Mar Blue in TB if you want a bit more time or head back to Negril, stopping at Culloden Cafe in Whitehouse for dinner. If you're shooting lots of pix, a driver is key to letting you see the vistas and people, not the road traffic.

Thanks Tiverton, appreciate all of the detail and recs. What about YS Falls, and Bamboo Road (is that what it's called)?

YS Falls about half hour from Black River and you can drive thru the Bamboo Alley en route back if you go to Appleton Rum (a snooze, imho, tho). To do all these things, however, plan on 2 days with an overnight in TB

I was going to suggest the overnight as Tiv did.
