Negril - Swept Away, Sandals, Couples, or Grand Lido?

My husband and I are deciding between Couples, Swept Away, Sandles, and Grand Lido all in Negril. We are 28 and 33, and almost always do an All Inclusive Vacation. This year we decided to do Negril and just have to choose the resort!

Please let me know your thoughts on each one. Including information about the beach, water sports, scuba, food, formality would be great. Also, we usually just pay the lowest rate for garden view - is paying more at any of these resorts worth it?

Any information will be greatly appreciated

The beach is the same beach. It is gorgeous. Go to whichever one you can get the best deal. Be sure to have them include the short-hop flight from Montego Bay to Negril in your package. You won't regret it and you'll have more time to spend enjoying Negril. Also take a day-trip off site to Black River and YS Falls. You will get to see many lovely parts of Jamaica you would otherwise miss. Have a wonderful time.

We stayed at GL Negril. It's not that big, and all rooms faced the beach or ocean. There was a regular and nude side. Regular side was near the road. It was fairly quiet at night. We liked it, and would return. I agree with taking the plane from MB.

Kimberly, I would stay at Couples Negril, stayed there last November, had a blast, and returning this November for our Honeymoon. Ihave also stayed at Sandals Negril, and Couples by far has the best service and best atmosphere. Couples is the newest resort, of the ones you are looking at. I would never hesitate to go back here-everything was top rate. Have a great time.

Hello, Kimberly. Try this site, it is a club for travelers to the all-inclusive Grand Lido Resorts in Jamaica - Negril, Sans Souci and Braco. It has a very active message board, dozens of recent trip reports, loads of photos, a weekly scheduled live Chat Session and a trip calendar onto which to post your vacation dates and find others going at the same time.

Hope this helps in planning your trip!

Couples to me was a step below Sandals Negril. But we all have our own opinions.
We love Sandals Negril it has the greatest beach 7 miles long you can walk for miles. Gran Lido is more upper class
and the people seems not as fun and carefree there. No most of the time Sandals gives you a upgrade anyway. Email me if you like.

We went to Swept Away 5 years ago and it was FABULOUS!! The beach was amazing, the room was great, we really liked the restaurants, especially the "fancy" one (Feathers?), definitely 5-star, and the veggie bar on the beach was great for healthy snacks and lunch. We stayed in a garden view in the middle (don't stay near the road, we heard), and it was beautiful and very private, I almost thought it was better than beachfront because it was really quiet (and only about a 2 minute walk to the beach). We went on a scuba dive that was good, not great, but that was the area, not the resort. Also it was a "resort dive" since my husband wasn't certified. Had a great snorkle trip. Swept Away also lets you play golf at the local course, which was great, and I also went waterskiing one morning. We ordered room service every morning, fresh fuit, banana bread, the best coffee I've ever had, which was served on our private balcony. I've never been to the other resorts you mentioned, but I can't say enough good things about Swept Away!!

We stayed at Swept Away last summer. Very nice but I would not call it private when we could hear someone coughing in the next room...among other things. In other words there were lots of honeymooners.

Kimberely:

My recommendation would be for one of the Couples resorts. I do not that "everything" is included i.e scauba diving and a resort course and off resort excursions, sunset cruise etc. It is just beautiful. I do kow that they ahve a plan where you can stay at least 3 nights at the one in Ocho Rios then they will fly you free to their other resort where you can stay. That way you get ot enjoy both properties.

Couples Negril - we went there for our honeymoon in late August and it was beautiful. The service was excellent and the rooms were clean. The beach was wonderful. We did the "double take" and stay 1/2 at Couples Ochos and 1/2 at Negril - definetly recommend Negril.

Re: Sandals having a "7 mile beach" - FYI, this is a public beach shared by many, many hotels and restaurants - the Sandals' portion of it is quite small....

We went to Swept Away last year November and proved to be the best resort in Negril. We visited the Sandals, etc. and we were by far Swept Away. We will return to the resort.

I am a Travel Agent and one of the agents in out office jsut returned from Negril and she saw every hotel you have mentioned. By far we would suggest Swept Away!! More athletic activies, and just as romantic as the others. Grand Lido is nice but kind of stuffy, and Sandals is also nice but very expensive. She liked couples as well but it is much quieter than Swept Away with not quite so many activities.

Hope this helps!!
