Negril - Scuba and Things to Do
We will be staying at the Rockhouse in March for five days.
Any recommendations for scuba diving - shops and dive sites? We would also be interested in exploring a bit outside of the resort itself for an afternoon and/or night out, and would love any suggestions! Thanks! |
Lots of good scuba shops in Negril.
Closest to you is probably at Samsara hotel down the road. Since Rockhosue is a pretty small resort - more of a boutique hotel I'd call it, I'd say you'll probably explore a lot. Some authentic and inexpensive Jamaican food is next door at Sips n Bites. Lots of restaurants within walking or short taxi distance on the cliffs and for a $5pp or so taxi, on the beach as well. the beach is public so you can go swim anywhere, to use loungers at a beach hotel or restaurant it is expected that you buy drinks or food. I'd suggest a day or half day in the interior swimming in or climbing a waterfall, taking a boat trip out to a reef (if you dive you'll do this anyway), or any number of things that appeal to you...Jamaica has a lot of neat things to do away form the coast in the mountains and jungle, lots of that involves water (rafting, kayaking, swimming, etc) or hiking. |
PS: this map shows hotels, bars, restaurants, etc, I highly recommend you print a copy to take along:

When we stayed at Rock House 2 years ago, they booked a dive for us, but I do not remember the operator's name. We just went with what they suggested and it waa an OK dive, actually a little better than I expected. |
