Negril Restaurants

Can anyone recommend a high-end restaurant in Negril? I'd like to purchase a gift certificate for honeymooning friends. Thanks.

There really aren't any 'high-end'<BR>restaurants in Negril outside those of the hotels which are good, but not superb. Give your friends instead a private guide service for a day or half day touring with Carolyn Barrett ([email protected]) say to YS Falls, Black River and a stop at the wholesale straw/basket warehouse ,plus dinner or lunch at Culloden Cafe in Whitehouse (1 hour from Negril) with a special chocolate tia maria cake or chocolate truffles wrapped in banana leaves in a clever take on Jamaican 'blue drawers' might be more appreciated.

I'm told Norma Shirley (of Norma's on the Wharf,Reading-MoBay/closed some years ago)and Norma's in Kingston has opened a place in Negril called Norma's on the Beach at the Sea Splash,a resort. Along with Winsome Reid in Treasure Beach, she's probably the best-known and most creative women chefs on island and worth checking out the new venture. Her MoBay restaurant was very good, tho on the pricey side, and her take on Jamaican food is more updated<BR>

The red snapper used to be a pretty nice place to eat in Negril. I'm not sure if it is still around.
