negril on sunday

In spite of "Dennis", my husband and I discussed it and we plan on going to Negril on Sunday anyway as long as there is power and water. Anyone have any suggestions what an RN could volunteer to do for a day in that area?

Hi Brenda! You will be fine and probably not even know that a storm had hit the area. Dennis gave the east end of the island the most wind and all of the island is receiving quite a bit of rain. By the time Sunday rolls around, there will be nothing but sunshine, I am fairly certain. The storms tend to take the majority of the energy in the area with it this time of year and things are normally pretty calm for a good period of time. I have checked the satellite and there is nothing on the "horizon" that you will need to worry about. There will be ample power and no shortage of water....especially after the rainfall. Check out the island updates by locals on all the Caribbean isles on stormcarib.com. That should give you some peace of mind. Have a great trip to Negril and we are looking forward to a detailed trip report! Irie vibes, mon!

Thanks Brett (CaribbeanSoul), that was reassuring about the possibility of some good weather. Unbelievable how active things are this year. May be a sign of the times. We will make the best of whatever. Planning to meet some couples from the Jamaica trip advisor forum from NYC. One staying at IA and the other at CCLP. I will definitely post a trip report.

Have a great time! I'm sure help will be needed after this storm has dumped its load there. I suggest you go to the message board at www.negril.com & post your offer to volunteer. Gail Jackson runs a hotel there & she always knows where help is needed.
They are always posting info about volunteer needs at the school & hospital. I know several regulars there bring supplies because the medical area is lacking.

Hi, Brenda,

What a generous and thoughtful offer ! I have always felt that nurses are the BEST :-) !

I hope you will have wonderful weather, a tour that lets you see all you wish to see ;-), and just a fantastic vacation.

You've done your research and I'm sure you will be pleased :-) !

Enjoy every minute :-)

Marion
