Negril - Non-Inclusive Luxury Hotel

Hi,

I'm looking for an upscale hotel that is NOT an all-inclusive hotel in Negril. Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance,

Chels

If you mean luxury, as in high end world class, there is no such animal in Negril.

Chels-----don't really know of a luxury non-inclusive, but in April 2000 my husband and I stayed at the Cocolapalm---it was very clean, and very nice. We booked one of the larger octagon-shaped rooms----the place is (or was in 2000) owned by a Minneapolis couple. Very clean, very nice, pool/whirlpool, full restaurant and bar attached---good food---ate many meals there, but were free to stroll down the beach to find other restaurants. cocolapalm.com We would stay there again! I think the Apple vacation book listed this property as a 3 golden apple rating. No huge lobby, no exercise facility----but still a great place.

Take a look at Idle Awhile www.idleawhle.com and Moon Dance villas www.moondancevillas.com
The Junior suites around the main pool are nice at Coco Lapalm.

The most upscale would be The Caves (I think you can opt not to do the all-inclusive plan there, but I might be wrong). Another chic, but I wouldn't call luxury, hotel is the Rockhouse.

Both are located in the cliffs.

Grand Lido is the only hotel in Negril to bill itself as luxury;however, I'd opt for The Caves first and foremost.
It's a Chris Blackwell property so it's got more quirky personality than the usual beige marble and ormulu 'upscales'.

Agree, Moondance villas are probably the nicest.

What do you consider "upscale"?

...and not a hotel, either. But very nice, with lots of extras, including the internet in your living room...nice for geeks like me

A sweet geek with a fondness for grilled kingfish with two sauces -- Axel sends his regards.

Moon Dance is not a hotel but it has all the amenities and has personal chef and bartender. It is clearly very upscale. A look at the photos on the website will tell you that and it is even nicer in person - especially eyecatching at night.

Please tell Axel and Andrea if you're still around, that I wish I were there right now!!! That was the first kingfish he'd caught, he said...and man was it good!

(sorry to hijack the thread....Mar Blue is definitely upscale but it's in Treasure Beach...)
