Negril: Catch a Falling Star/Tensing Pen

Researching a 4 night getaway to one of these hotels for our 1st Negril visit (we've been to Jamaica several other times); We are looking at late July/1st of August....I don't think these places have a/c...is this an issue? Is it still rainy season there? Any fans of these places have a favorite cottage or suite to recommend? (Just 2 of us going for our anniversary)....thanks!

i think either place would be great. we stayed at tensing pen last april in the cove cottage and our friends stayed in the north pillar. the cove cottage was just a little noisy from the waves hitting the rocks. so i think i would choose another cottage if i stayed there again. maybe one of the pillars next to the bridge, but all of the cottages are really nice. it really depends on what you can get at the time you go. we've not stayed at catcha(yet) but have been to ivans many times for dinner and drinks, it's one of the best restaraunts in negril.
good luck and i'm sure that once you go to negril, you'll be back!

I was in Negril last summer for 10 days at the beginning of July. It was VERY HOT and humid. I personally would want a room that had AC at least in the bedroom. I think some of the units at those places do have it?

I was next door at Le Mirage but wiht a group of a dozen friends staying at Tensing Pen. So spent time there. We had dinner at Ivan's several times so I also got to see Catcha as well. They are both very fabulously beautiful properties.

Oh and yes it's definitely the rainy season. But it doesn't typically rain all day every day. Just showers blow thru, POUR rain, then clear up.

Its rainy season but mostly rain showers are just a few minutes and won't last long.

You can check out where we stayed on our last vacation - http://lemerluxuryvillas.com/ - managed by great couple from south carolina. Very private, pure relaxation - real Jamaican beauty.

Tell them Lisa sent you :-)
