Negril
Looking for an AI in Negril. Any suggestions?
|
It depends on what type of AI you are looking for. Do you want something fun with lots going on or something quite? Are you looking for couples only, singles or family type of AI.
We stayed at the RIU Tropical Bay and would NOT recommend it. Food was bad and the guest atmosphere was too loud for us. Experienced several large, obnoxious groups of people. Overall, a very nice hotel. Too bad the other guest's behavior was a huge turn off. If you want couples type of resort, look at Sunset at the Palms, Couples or Sandals. Not familiar with family type resorts since we do not have kids. The die hard Negril fans, will steer you clear from any type of AI property. If you will provide more detailed info on what your really looking for in a vacation, you'll get more responses. |
Really depends on your budget and what kind of place you're looking for. The Caves is AI, but not like anything else, very small with personal service and great atmosphere. Very high end. Moondance Villas can be done AI if you'd like, or pay as you go. Also very luxurious, but expensive.
Personally, I like to have some meals in my villa and some out on the beach. |
Die hard Negril traveller here. And yes I like to steer people away from AI's. Try www.negril.com message board. Everyone there is som much help, from both an AI or non-AI perspective. I have stayed at Point Village and ejoyed it, however I would never go back since staying at other non AI's

Just back from a 2 week stay on the beach. It gets better and better every trip. If you are interested in experiencing the "real" Negril, I'd be happy to offer you some suggestions of places (non-AI) to stay on the beach that may suit your needs.

If you're dead-set on an AI, there are a couple of smaller ones that are right in the thick of things - very close to live music venues, and on the beach - Negril Gardens and Merrills.
