Need Quiet Caribbean Getaway Place
If anyone can recommend to me a non-stuffy place to go which has much seclusion and beauty and is non-stop direct from NY and is nicely-temperatured in February, please help me out. Please email me at my email address directly. Thanks.

I would look into Negril, Jamaica. There are tons of smaller and secluded places on one of the best beaches in the Caribbean. Try www.negril.com

Also, Turks and Caicos - awesome place for seclusion and the beach is incredible!

First, other than a charter there is no direct flight between TCI and NYC area. That aside, the TCI in February would not be my choice for a temperate trip. Head to the Carib.

Have not checked but American may still have a Saturday nonstop from JFK.

We got a non-stop out of JFK

We've looked for just that for years and have been consistently disappointed. It turns out, in our opinion, that the direct flights take you to the most heavily touristed locations, so nix on the seclusion aspect. Also the non-stuffy part.
There must be one, though, so I'll be watching this thread.
That said, we found an outstanding and very slight compromise. We book to San Juan and catch a very convenient connection to Tortola. Tortola is about a 20 minute flight out of the same terminal.
Frenchmans Cay or Fort Recovery on Tortola, or Olde Yarde Inn all fill the bill perfectly. We have settled on FC for about 5 years due to the following: stunning view of the Sir Francis Drake Channel (about a 8 islands in view) from the porch on your own 2 story small villa; a very laid-back management team (married couple); only 7 villas for rent so a small guest list of no more than about 20-25 at any one time; excellent restaurant; low, low key; private road that's a good half mile from traffic; occupies the whole end of a small cay (island) so there are no neighbors; breeze 24/7.
My second choice is Olde Yard Inn over on Virgin Gorda for its phenomenal beach, intimate atmosphere and also a warm management team such as that at FC that bends over backwards. Less view since it's open sea and no islands.
Also, I prefer Tortola for its very mountainous nature and the total absence of any big resorts cluttering the skyline. Rule is no building taller than a palm tree. Only 2 "big" resorts, and to my knowledge no chains at all. Great mountain and sea roads to explore by 4WD.
Finally, the BVI is very friendly and the people are well educated. The main business is off-shore banking so you don't have a bunch of locals dressed up to look like Americans expect them to look. Everything is genuine. I've actually picked up hitchhikers.
Think about it.
I'd seriously

You might think about the Bahamas, it has just about the same climate as southern Florida, so in Feb it will be usually in the upper 70's. I have done it many times in Feb and never had a cold spell.

You can fly directly into Nassau and try a resort called Compas Point which is on the far side of the island and very laid back, low key, beautiful grounds and great food.

Or you could take the fast ferry over to Eleuthera or Harbour Island, lots of nice places to stay there.

Try the website www.briland.com for more info on places to stay and info on the island. Harbour Island is a slice of New England in the carribean. Laid back beautiful beach and good food everywhere.

Hope this helps a bit. Have a great trip.

tweedy
