Need info about Dillet's Guest House
 

I am going to the Bahamas in June and was considering Dillet's B&B because my fiance and I would like something that isn't so crowded and overdone. Does anyone have any info about it or maybe has stayed at it? I'd appreciate anything you could offer.

The property is nice but no where near a beach, and not in one of the greatest areas of Nassau.<BR><BR>If you are looking for a good value property you might consider Orange Hill which is small and more intimate and has the feel of an out island resort. It is also across the street from a very nice and quiet beach, and it's easy to get to downtown from there on the "bus" system.<BR><BR>You also might check with some of the larger travel agencies as June is off season and you should be able to get a really good package deal.<BR><BR>IF you are looking for something small and intimate you also might look into Abaco, Harbour Island, Eleuthera as other island choices.<BR><BR>June is HOT in the Bahamas so bring LOTS of sunscreen and have a GREAT time.<BR>

Sorry Lance, have not heard of that one. It may be new.<BR><BR>What kind of budget are you looking for and I can make some other recommendations.<BR><BR>You also might consider Eleuthera and Harbour Island as destinations. <BR><BR>On Eleuthera you can rent a house right on the beach, and in June it will be very well priced.<BR><BR>Another option is a nice small resort on Harbour Island called Runaway Hill or Romora Bay, check these websites for info www.briland.com www.runawayhill.com and www.romorabay.com<BR><BR>Also on Harbour Island there are 2 B&Bs to look into Bahama House and The Landing (great food also at The Landing)<BR><BR>Hope this helps, email me if you have any other questions [email protected]<BR><BR>tweedy

Tweedy, <BR> I have thought about Harbour Island or Eleuthera and wouldn't mind the quiet atmosphere. I would like to stay around $150 a night if possible. <BR> I am looking into Orange Hill and am hoping they will have something available. Do think it would be suitable for a honeymoon? <BR> Also, do you have some info on a house that you mentioned on Eleuthera. That sounds pretty nice.<BR> Thanks so much for the help.

I stayed at Orange Hill and loved it, but suitable for a honeymoon? I would tend to say NO; it's a reasonably priced accommodation on New Providence Island with attractive views of the New Providence Channel, pleasant grounds and a nice beach. (I should mention that the walls were a little thin; maybe not what you'd want on a honeymoon.)

Neither Dillets or Orange Hill would be appropriate for a honeymoon. You may want to have your travel agent give you info on Compass Point.

Lance,<BR><BR>For $150 a night go over to Harbour Island. There are several nice places to stay in that range, like The Landing and Bahama House and Tingum Village. I think Runaway Hill is just a bit out of your price range, but you might check and see since it is off season.<BR><BR>On Eleuthera the tourist amenities are a bit thin, and you would have to have a car to get around, for the money I would say Harbour Island is a better bet. There are several good restaurants on island, some nite spots and the amazing beach. Hi Lance, if you want to get away from the crowds and fast paced atmosphere, Eleuthera is the place to relax. It's 110 miles long with plenty of beaches, caves, lagoons, and oean holes to explore. Several great restaurants reaching over the entire island or simply cook your own meals at your cottage.A daytrip to Harbour Island and also Spanish Wells are a must see. Cartwrights Ocean Front Cottages in Tarpum Bay are located on the edge of town and the sunsets from the patios are great.Beaches, food shops and restaurants are all within walking distance and the cottages are equipped with a/c cable tv kitchen etc. and maid/ laundry svc is even provided.They ware very economical and are withiin your budget. Regarding Nassau: Dillet's Guest House is a quaint B and B located in Chippingham, its not very private as many of the gests gather in the main house/lobby for breakfasts.They have a pool on site and rooms are well maintained,the local bus into downtown Nassau is about a 6 minute walk up to Arawak Cay. Local features in the area include the Ardastra Zoo and Botanical Gardens, and the Arawak Cay where you can sample a variety of Bahamian dishes especially Conch Salad from Goldie's. Lance the ferry and Bahamas Air are about the same price so you can fly one way and take the ferry the other way. The cost is about $100rt/pp.<BR><BR>The ferry takes about 2 hours and the flight from Nassau to N. Eleuthera is about 20 minutes and it is a breathtaking view of the water. The water is so clear that as you land you can see to the bottom and watch the fish swimming.<BR><BR>The ferry leaves early am to HI and again in the early afternoon, pending good weather. Bahamas Air also has a late afternoon flight over and back.<BR><BR>When we go down we are on an early am flight out of NY to Nassau and get on the early pm ferry or stay on Nassau for a couple of days and then head over on the early ferry or flight.<BR><BR>Hope this helps, again let me know if you have any other questions.<BR><BR>tweedy

Staying at Dillet's will give you a look at the real Nassau - not the one on Paradise Is. <BR>Danielle is very accomodating and they serve great breakfasts. The beach is not that far away - no, it's not across the street but Cable Beach is a 10-15min bus ride as is downtown Nassau. You can walk there in about 20-30min.
