Need help booking Atlantis Trip
My husband has been dying to visit the Atlantis since it opened so I thought I'd surprise him and make it his 30th birthday gift. His B-day is in May (the 26th). I'm hoping this is a good time to go. The dates can be flexible but I'd like to go somewhat close to his B-day. Any dates to stay away from or to specifically search for? Also, do you know how I could get a good deal - go directly through the resort, online travel agent, etc.? We'll be flying out of the Washington DC/Baltimor area. Thanks for any help you can provide!

Have been to Atlantis a few times and always booked through a travel agent. Some of the larger agencies have some decent deals on flights and rooms at the Atlantis. We found that we spent a LOT LESS money WITHOUT the meal plan at Atlantis. We like good meals and eat very well, but still made out better without the plan. There will be people on these boards who slam the Atlantis, but we have always had a great time there.

We were at Atlantis for a week last May, and I thought it was a good time to go. It's before the really oppressive summer weather sets in, it was hot and sunny all week (but water was rough for several days). We went through travel agent, it's easier and you'll get the best deal that way. It's not like some other places where you'll find really discounted prices on line.
As for meal plan, we got the gourmet dining plan, which includes breakfast and dinner in their "top" restaurants (rather than the buffets like the regular meal plan). The meal plan was good, but we probably wouldn't do that again--just too much food, and you feel obligated since you paid (a lot!) for it up front. Towards the end we were just so sick of the huge meals, we just wanted a burger or slice of pizza. There's plenty to do at Atlantis, it's huge and there's a lot to see. I'm not sure if I'd go back, but I'm glad I went. If you have specific questions, I'd be happy to answer more of them. |
Dear Rinsav,
I am not sure how much you wish to spend or what type of accomodations you are looking for, but when I want to get away quickly and not spend alot of money, I go through Vacation Express, www.vacationexpress.com, and have been happy with them. They used to fly out of Dulles, but now only Baltimore, which sholdn't be to far from you. Look at what they have to offer, I sugggest calling and requesting info, especially what blocks of rooms they offer and plans and enjoy, Atlantis is alot of fun. |
Thanks so much for the responses! I will definitely check out vacationexpress.com and a few other travel agencies. Schmerl & almesq, which ones did you use? Also, thanks for the offer, Almesq, to answer any other questions I may have. I will absolutely take you up on that as I move forward in my planning. Thanks so much!!

You will probably find better priced deals if you avoid Memorial Day weekend. Plan this trip for before or after that.

Just went to Atlantis from 10/31 to 11/02 and stayed in the Comfort Suites - right across the street from Atlantis. A little cheaper, you get breakfast (which costs about $10/person on site in Atlantis for just a roll and coffee), and the rooms were above average and everyone was friendly. We got all privileges that Atlantis guest got. Check out reviews in www.triptadvisor.com. Just loved Atlantis and plan to return - someday. Beautiful grounds. Food is expensive, but high quality - just pack water and snacks from home.

No problem. I booked through liberty travel, but I think the deals won't differ much for Atlantis no matter who you use. If you have any more questions, you can post here or email me at [email protected]

My husband and I just stayed at the Harborside at Atlantis in September. We loved it there. You get to use all the facilities at Atlantis and in fact you have the same kind of room key which you can charge food, drinks etc. on. The condos are new and beautiful and fully equipped. You have a kitchen, dining area and livingroom in addition to a king bedroom and hot tub. We loved staying at Harborside which is much quieter and more spacious than staying in the high rise towers. We booked our stay through a web site which timeshare owners advertise on: www.vacationrentals.com. If you have any questions you can e-mail me at [email protected]

I also booked through Liberty Travel. Look in your local newspaper travel section. Sometimes the airlines also offer packages to Atlantis.

Okay, I'm pretty certain I'm going to stay in the Royal Towers, but now I'm wondering if it's worth it to pay for a Harbor or Water view or should I just stick with the Terrace? Also, they mentioned something about Imperial Harbor or Terrace. Does anyone know exactly what that means or if it's worth it? Thanks!
|
I meant Imperial Harbor or water. I can't decide if it's worth the extra money. If anyone has stayed in this class of rooms, can you please tell me what the continental breakfast includes, what snacks are available, and any other perks? Thanks so much!
