NEED CAR IN GRAND CAYMANS?

Would appreciate any input from fellow travelers as to whether or not we need to rent a car in the Grand Caymans. Staying at the Marriott. Is it close enough to see the sights and restaurants or would a car be more convenient than cabs and public transportation ? Thanks to all.

we rented a jeep for 3 of the 6 days we were there. There are some nice spots, and interesting things to see around the island. We went to the more out of the way restaurants on the nights we had the car. We were very happy we had a car for a couple of days.

Am returning to Grand Cayman for the third time in May. I always rent a car from Thrifty. The price is very reasonable at less than $300 for a week for a jeep. There are so many wonderful restaurants, you would not want to be confined at the Marriott for all meals and I hate to depend on taxi for all my traveling. I always feel I get my money's worth out of the car between eating, shopping and going to the spa. Have fun!!

Lib, thanks for the info. What spas do you recommend? Would love to indulge while there.

I am drawing a blank on the name of it right now, but will look when I get home and see if I have a brochure. It is in the shopping center right south of the Treasure Island Hotel and it is run by a lady named Diane who is from Canada. I have had massages, facials, Egyptian ear candeling, and a seaweed body wrap there and have been very pleased with them. I will try to find the name for you.
