Need a vacation idea
Would like suggestions. My husband and I (in our 50's) are doing a 5 night vacation in Aug. with our 20 year old daughter and a 24 yr. old friend. The friend does not have a passport. We are thinking about an all-inclusive place, nice beach, snorkeling, things for young people to do.
Cancun is the logical choice (we stayed at Cancun Palace and loved it), but we have been there recently and want to try someplace different in either the Caribbean or Mexico . Any suggestions? FYI, my daughter's friend has never traveled but we have been to Cancun, Puerto Vallarta, and on several Caribbean cruises. |
US Virgin Islands would be an ideal spot. Off season so you can get decent rates. My personal favorite island is St. John.

YOU SHOULD LOOK INTO BITTER END ON VIRGIN GORDA. LOTS TO DO FOR EVERY AGE AND VERY SAFE.

If the friend's intention is to travel without a passport, then I suggest staying within the continental U.S. My wife and I went to St. John recently and upon our return, the immigration agent requested to see a passport (which we had on us) due to heightened security measures. Technically we shouldn't have to furnish passports but the reality is that they just might want to see it.
If you had 6-8 weeks she just might want to get a passport! Cancun is fun and you can do day trips. I heard the Dominican Republic is cool as well. Puerto Rico not high on my list. |
