Need a fun Caribbean Island to visit for my 30th Birthday
The 30th Birthday is definitely a huge milestone and I am looking for an island to visit in the month of January 2012. I have been to DR and PR, and I am looking for another island to visit that has a good nightlife aspect, but also has a laid back aspect in addition to me potentially engaging in some fun activities or adventures. I need some ideas on some islands to visit with this criteria.

I also vote for Negril. If you want laid back, private setting you can check out Le Mer - http://lemerluxuryvillas.com
It's located between Negril and Montego bay so access to most attractions is easy.

Playa Del Carmen, Mexico would fit your needs very well.
There are big resorts, small hotels, condos. Great beaches, zip lining, cenote snorkeling. ruins to visit. MANY restaurants and bars. Overall laid back feeling throughout.

Negril is a good choice, but there are just so many great Caribbean islands to go to. I've been to many and they've all been great except for Curacao. One thing to consider is how much ocean time you are looking for. Last Jan. I was in Cozumel, Belize, and Roatan. The water in Cozumel & Belize was downright chilly for snorkeling. Most people got out of the water after only a short time. That was a bit atypical, but still something to consider if you're planning on many water activities. I usually head for Southern Caribbean if going in January.

another vote for Negril Jamaica. I was there most recently 10 days last summer and had a fantastic time. Nightlife, laid back, activities and adventures. Everything you request. It's 90 mins from Montego Bay airport $20 by shuttle.
