Nassau-What to do

I will be in Nassau (Wyndham-Cable Beach) for 3 days at the end of March. My husband will be at a conference most of the time. Other than lying on the beach (it's still snowing here in Syracuse), anything special to do?

We enjoyed the Ardasta Zoo and Gardens. Check their web-site and go right before they do the Flamingo show/march and then walk around and look at the gardens and animals.

Stuart Cove offers snorkel and diving trips.

Look around the Atlantis if that interests you. The aquarium and digs are offered as self-guided tours for $25 p/p (may be more now)

We did the Flying Cloud catamaran snorkel and beach day. It was OK.

Shopping in town was OK. The merchants were nice and non-harrassing/threatening. We found a department type store with a room marked 75% off everything. We bought several button-up shirts, t-shirts, sweatshirts, and hats for a great price. There's a craft market also, but we didn't go there.

We didn't find Nassau very exciting.

That will be a nice get away! This site has information on what to do and see in Nassau- http://www.nassauparadiseisland.com/...php?catgiven=8
Have a great trip!

Be sure to go to "Conch Alley" and have them make you a fresh (and wondeful) Conch Salad. It's REALLY good! Have fun!

Great suggestions above. Also, at the airport, grab a copy of the free "Tourist News". It has the best reviews of dinding, tours, shopping, etc. with a "coupon page" you'll want to tear out and carry with you. You can go to the Arawak Cay fish fry to learn cooking demos and taste the fish and conch; see shark feeding at Atlantis; dine on mango, guava and sourshop ice cream; order a Conch Pizza from Dominos; hit Nassau's Junkanoo gallery at Doongalik Studios; to horseback riding (Happy Trails stables); buy colorful Bahamian postage stamps and mail postcards to your friends back in the states; sail and snorkel with Barefoot or Flying Cloud catamarans; have your hair braided at the cruise ship dock; take glass-bottom boat to the sea gardens; take horse-drawn surrey ride; walk through the Ocean Club's Versailles Gardens on Paradise Island (It's beautiful and underrated as a wedding site); hit the Botanical Gardens or Ardasta Zoo; watch the wood carvers at the Straw Market, they're very skilled in their art; tour Parliament Square and definately go into the octagonal and historic library, then take the short walk to Green Shutters pub and restaurant and have a stout; buy native fruits such as sugarapple, guinep, soursop, sour-orange, jumu and gooseberry...etc.!
