Nassau or Bermuda
Anyone prefer one over another? Beaches better in Nassau? Here's my only problem, looks like Bermuda resorts are quite a bit more expensive than Nassau. But I think Nassau may be like Freeport, Bahamas, which wasn't my favorite. I picture Nassau as a busy, cruise port town. Any thoughts? I'll have a husband and two kids (9, 11). Like four star properties on the beach, some water activities and not needing fancy dining with the kids. We'll probably not explore much on this vacation.

What time of the year are you going? What is your budget?

Take a look at Pompano Beach Club in Bermuda. I have been to both and greatly prefer Bermuda, but the season is really May-October. Would not recommend it in Jan

When are you going?
Agree w/ cmcfong that Bermuda is too cold in the late Fall/Winter/early Spring months if you are looking for a beach vacation. Nassau may not be far enough south either. Have you considered going farther south? |
I'm looking at June 27th so should be warm. I'd like to keep the room at 350 a night if I can but if not, I'll consider bumping up. I don't really want an all-inclusive. Just mainly looking for something new as we have seen a lot of the Caribbean but ironically never done Nassau or Bermuda. Also, both are the same price for air, which is good, that is why I tossed Bermuda into the pot. Thanks for the replies and I'll look at Pompano Beach Club!

Oh my, I see most resort rooms are around $500 and up a night. Is there anywhere slightly less pricey?
|
You can find something less expensive here:
http://www.bermudarentals.com/ Or Clairfont Apartments. Grotto Bay might be less expensive but it doesnt have such a lovely beach as Pompano. None of these options are the 4 star on the beach that you seek. Are you really a travel agent? |
How about Fourways? They give you beach privileges at Coco Reef ( which is lso an option). but the price point is substantially lower than Pompano. You can walk to the beach(25 min), the ferry (5min), grocery store( 5 mins, cottages have a kitchenette), or catch the bus in front of the hotel.

OP said on Millie's 40th Wedding Anniversary thread that she is a travel agent.

Thanks you guys, I'll check out the other suggestions. Believe it or not, I've never been or sent anyone to Bermuda. I'm on the west coast so most of my clients go to Hawaii, Mexico, Asia or Europe. I am tired of Hawaii and Mexico, the S. Pacific is too far/expensive so I thought I'd check out Bermuda. Truth is, I might be able to get an agent discount but not always during high season, which is why I need a back up plan. Yes, I have suppliers who can tell me about Bermuda but I really value the feedback I can get from fellow travelers. It is usually honest and full of useful tips. I may end up having to do the Nassau trip as Bermuda seems over budget at this point. I appreciate everyone's input, thank you!

If you choose Nassau...the Cable Beach area is nice and so is Paradise Island. You don't even have to go into the town of Nassau if you want to avoid the "busy cruise port town".

Thanks schmerl!
