Nassau Marriott/packing....help

We leave for Nassau Marriott on Tuesday...has anyone been there? Is this a nice property, and CLOSE to things? Also...is there any need to bring "dressy" clothes (shirt/tie, dress, etc)? Thanks in advance!

Andrea: We are leaving for the Nassau Beach Hotel next Friday, which is right next door to your place. We stayed at the Nassau Beach before and liked it. The price was too good to resist.

We went into the Marriott to check out the casino, restaurant and beach and it's a nice place. Big, but pretty nice.

We brought nothing but shorts on our last trip as the last thing we want to do when going there is haul a lot of stuff with us. I like being casual there and just taking it easy. We didn't go to any fancy restaurants, choosing local places and the Cafe' Johnny Canoe at the Nassau Beach with good food, good atmosphere and reasonable prices.

You can head downtown on a bus (neat trip) and visit the area with it's provincial government buildings, seaport and the famous Straw Market. Great places to eat around there, also.

Cable Beach is where both of our hotels are and it's a nice beach. Pretty busy, but fun. Take a snorkel trip and some evening, take a taxi to the Atlantis on Paradise Island and see the underground aquarium. You can take the bus over to the supermarket for lower prices on snacks and make sure that you try the local Kalik beer, it's very good. Don't let the vendors bug you with hair braiding, condo time-shares, etc., giving a polite, but firm "no thanks!".

Have fun and great weather!

THANKS for the info...it's much appreciated, as we've only been to Mexico, and not the Caribbean!! Will definitely get over to check out Atlantis!! We thought about staying there, but it seemed VERY pricey. Sounds neat, though. Thanks again.

Remember to look the OPPOSITE direction when you cross the street -- they drive on "the other" side in the Bahamas! We took the bus to town when we were there, but found we had to take a cab back because we tarried too long at dinner.

Andrea,

We are leaving on the 13th for Sandals Royal Bahamian and this is our second time in Nassau. If you go down town go to the harbor and you must stop and eat at the Poop Deck, you will not be sorry.
