Nassau Bahamas Hotels

Hi,
I have to go to a wedding in the Bahamas in the middle of May. They're getting married at the British Colonial Hilton but we really don't want to stay there. I went on the website and it doesn't look that nice. We will be travelling with my daughter who will be close to 14 months at the time. Price really is not a concern since it's more of a work thing (vendors daughter) so it's considered a business expense. Anyone know of any nice hotels in Nassau?

The Atlantis is a top of the line hotel there, although, it does get crowded, you may not want to take a 14 month old there. The Comfort Suites across the street is nice also. You will have to take a taxi ride of a couple minutes from either of these hotels to the Hilton, or even a water taxi ride. Cable beach is close by and there is a string of hotels there. I've only been in the Radisson, which looked nice. This looks like a good website to help you out.

We were thinking about staying at the Atlantis. Does anyone know how long it will take to get from Paradise Island (where the Atlantis is) to Nassua where the British Colonial Hilton is??

If price isn't an issue.. I'd suggest the One and Only Ocean Club. Upscale amenities and non of the chaos from Atlantis.

Quite frankly, the British Colonial is really quite nice. It's not a big resort.. but that's the charm of it. It's a traditional classic hotel. Great staff and service. Terrific Concierge.
It's an historic building, so you won't find the big sliding glass doors etc. but it really is quite charming.

The website doesn't make the hotel look nice at all. It looks like the site was just thrown together, so I guess that's why I have no interest in staying there.

The Graycliff is unique, peaceful and not overrun with hundreds on package trips from Libery Travel (like the Atlantis).

The hilton site isn't very informative, but other sites have good info and photos.

I'd also suggest staying on PI and taking the water taxi over to Nassau and it's a 3 minute walk from there to the Nassau Beach Hotel.

While on Nassau you would really enjoy the Ardastra Zoo and Garden which is just off East Bay St and an easy cab or Jitney ride away from downtown.

Have a great time.

I think travelbuff meant it's a short walk to the British Colonial Hilton since the Nassau Beach Hotel is on Cable Beach which is not close by.

How long of a ride is the water taxi from Paradise Island to Nassau?

The water taxi takes about 10 mins.
They run every 30 minutes (not necessarity on the 1/2 hour. So you may have to wait a bit for the boat to leave. If you're in a rush.. a taxi would suffice.. but it's really more fun to wait for the boat and listen to the mini tour while you travel across the harbour.
Ferries run 9am-6pm daily. Cost is $3pp.

Thank you Scubagirl. Since it's not too far, I will be staying in Paradise Island.

Yes sorry, I meant the BC, it's a short walk from where the water taxi comes into downtown Nassau.
