nassau, bahamas

i'm getting mixed signals on this from the other posts...what has the better beach in nassau, bahamas? the radisson, the wyndham, british colonial, or ??? thanks! i want to go the first week in may.

Of the hotels you mentioned, probably the Raddison has the nicest beach area. The British Colonial has a private beach, but you are really close to the cruise ships there, and it's downtown Nassau.

Cable Beach is a bit nicer lots of good restaurants there, and several nice hotels. You might try getting prices from the Nassau Beach Hotel, which is nice but very basic. Their restaurant Johnny Canoe's is really fun. Find out when they have a Junkanoo and go.

We like the Wyndham (formerly the Marriott) but the beach is very small. You can of course walk either way toward the Raddison or to the Nassau Beach for a larger beach area.

Hope this helps, have a great time.

great!

I agree with the previous post. I was just in Nassau in January, and stayed at Wyndham. While the beach was nice, it was very small and didn't have much in the way of water access. You can, however, walk over to it's sister property next door or to the Radisson for more expansive beaches.

We looked at the British Colonial, and will probably stay there next time, but the beach is not that impressive - much too close to downtown and lots of boat activity.

the radisson it is! i'll be going down there specifically to be ON the beach!
;)

There's no contest here. Of the hotels you mentioned, the Radisson by far has the best beach.

I have stayed at Atlantis several times and love the protected reef section of the beach. It is warm, not too wavey and you don't have to worry about sharks! We were at Lucaya just previous to the attack! I know Atlantis is expensive, but sometimes you can find some deals

Heading for Paradise Island (Comfort Suites not Atlantis) and would appreciate advice about what are Atlantis to do MUSTS, from dining to trying.

Thanks and can email me at [email protected]

the atlantis seems a bit much for what i am looking for. the radisson sounds great.

I am looking for a place near PI with the same beaches. We have stayed at PIwith kids and grandkids and love it but now we want to go just the two of us. We love that water. Any advise would be appreciated. Sharon

If the buget permits the One and Only Ocean Club would be my first suggestion on PI, but far enough away from Atlantis that you won't be overwhelmed with people, and close enough so you have some evening entertainment if desired.

On Cable Beach the Wyndam would probably be a good option, the beach there is small but the pool area is quite nice.

Cable Beach is about to undergo major transformation so not sure that would be a great choice in May.

Have you thought about Compas Point www.islandoutpost.com which feels like an outisland and is far enough away from downtown so you have the best of all choices, take the jitney downtown to shop and some of the great restaurants, and yet the quite beauty of the Compas Point location.

You also might think about some of the outislands, like Harbour Island, The Abacos, Eleuthera, Cat Island, Long Island.

Hope this helps and let us know if you have further questions.

Someone posted to this old thread and I was responding to that recent post of 7/27/07.

Sorry you didn't get to make your trip Sharon, but hey this year there's still some time left and lots of sun.
