It was awesome...the most amazing food I have ever had and the most amazing beaches I have ever set foot on. The only thing is snorkling isn't so great but the other things make up for it
We flew into St. Martin and took the ferry to Anguilla. But you can fly directly into Anguilla. We stayed at Frangipani on Meads Bay.

Of course, the Frangipani in those pix no longer exists. There is massive renovation (as in gutting) going on in the "original" units and as soon as the high season is over, the tennis courts, pool & restaurant will be torn down & replaced by 14 "villa-style condos". It's going to be a construction zone for some time to come.

Mary...I didn't realize they were prcatically tearing down the place (though the room we stayed in did need some work) I thought they were just adding on. Do you know when it is supposed to be finished? I can't acees their website.

www.frangipaniresort.com -- Lots of complaints from the poor folks who stayed in the 3 units that were open in December -- the jack-hammering as they removed the floors in the other units was deafening. The "big" construction (demolition of pool, courts & restaurant) is supposed to start in April, I've heard. But the construction itself, I would think, would take a year, at least.
Rendezvous Bay Hotel is doing something similar but they have the class & decency to close during construction.

The restaurants are phenomenal and the beaches amazing. But there isn't that much to do in terms of shopping etc.
We took a snorkeling trip and climbed the rope down to Little Bay and did some exploring in our rental car but that's about it. You can take a trip on Chocolat and do an afternoon trip at Scilly Cay for music, food and drinks. If you want more action, you can take the ferry over to St. Martin for shopping and nightlife etc. Though there are fun, local places like the Pumphouse on Anguilla that we enjoyed.
Anguilla is mainly an island for relaxation so if you are looking for more things to do, this may be too quiet for you.
There is definitely more to do on Cayman. We enjoyed both.

Thanks Kristen, fantastic pictures of Anguilla - really took me back! We stayed at Frangipani too and it looks exactly the same in your pictures.... alas, a lot of changes are going on there now from what I hear, and not for the better!
