Murder in Jamaica-20/20

Anybody watch 20/20 last night? Story centered around an American girl who vacationed in Jamaica so she could experience some jungle fever and smoke some ganga. She ended up murdered. Apparently a lot of American and European gals go to Jamaica to enjoy (sans murder) what the murdered gal wished to enjoy.

I saw the show-I do not think it came out and said she was murdered. She is still missing and I admit it does not look good,it would be better for her poor parents if they had definite answers. There was a thread on this board inquiring about her status.

She is still missing - while I'll say it doesn't look good at this point, we don't know for sure what has happened to her.

:)Liz

Rex,
I don't think you were paying much attention. Besides NOT ever saying that the girl(Claudia Kirschhoch) was murdered, the show also clearly explained she was not on vacation in Jamaica. She was a travel writer for Frommer's and was just supposed to change plans on Jamaica before going to Cuba. The Cuba trip was cancelled and all flights back to the U.S. where booked for a week. That is why she was there.

We should all hold out hope she is still alive even though it looks grim at this point. Just say a little prayer and hope she comes back safe. I have been to Sandals Negril & Beaches and loved it , I will return there again. Rex, have a little compasion.

I read about that in the NY Times when she first disappeared and I thought she was writing about Jamaica and met with a co-worker for dinner her last night there and the co-worker went home the next morning and the other woman never showed up for her flight or made contact with anyone again. I hope they find her alive and well, I'll be sure to say a prayer for her that's for sure.

Rex and others,
I posted about this very story in June/July after my local paper (New Jersey Star Ledger) reported it. The girl's parents are in Morristown NJ. I cant seem to find my fodors post any more, I titled it "Crime and disappearance incident". The girl was a frommers travel editor or writer. I posted it in case anyone saw anything, and I then included a toll-free number which my paper printed. I too, feel so badly for these parents, and let's hope keeping this discussion active helps somehow. I didnt see the 20/20 show, but I do object to the "jungle fever" and ganja idea...these suggestions arent facts, her disappearance is!
