Multiple Hotel Idea
Would it be a major headache to stay at possibly two different hotels during a ten day stay in Anguilla? We are having a very hard time picking one.
|
Also, is ten days on Anguilla too long? Should we hit another island to break it up?

The choice is entirely up to you. All it means is that instead of spending the better part of one day relaxing or seeing the sites you will spend it packing, getting to your other hotel and unpacking. Keep in mind that you have to check out of most resorts before noon and you can't check in to your new hotel until 3:00PM or 4:00PM so you may find yourself with a period of time without a room (check with the resorts for their policies). Personally, I don't think it's worth the hassle but I'm sure others will tell you they do it all the time. As to the lenght of stay, that again is a purly personal choice. For me 10 days on Anguilla is perfect but for some it may not be enough while still others will tell it's too long. It really depends on what YOU want and how YOU like to spend your vacation. If I were you I'd stay put in one hotel for 10 days but consider taking a day trip to St. Martin (about 20 minutes away by ferry or 6 minutes by plane) and if you still feel energetic try making a second day trip later in your stay to St. Barts. That will give you exposure to 3 islands as well as plenty of time for relaxing on Anguillas wonderful beaches all while only having to unpack your bags once.

We stayed at THREE places during our most recent 17 day stay. The first night our regular resort (Frangipani) wasn't open so we went to RBH for a night -- put shorts & a swimsuit on top in the suitcase & we were good to go. Left RBH at 11:30; checked into Frangi at noon & stayed 9 days & then checked out of Frangi at 11:30 & went to a villa for a week. Don't really have to pack as you can just toss stuff in the backseat of the car. We try to extend our vacation in Anguilla by a day or so a year -- We have NEVER been bored!

Hi Jenny,
I have been reading your posts regarding your honeymoon choice and just wanted to offer a little advice of my own. MaryD is just one of the true experts about Anguilla. You will find some other Anguilla experts at www.caribbean-on-line.com. It's a very active forum. I might also suggest that you read www.tripadvisor.com for recent reports about the properties you are considering. I stayed at CJ for a week in 2002 and for two weeks at Rendezvous Bay Hotel in 2003...so I share Mary's opinion that there is never enough time in Anguilla. Although most folks will tell you that CJ is THE luxury place for a honeymoon, I think you might be pleasantly surprised with the warmth and very personal attention that you would receive at RBH. During my stay there, I met several honeymoon couples, and they all seemed to be glowing :-) ! You will save some $$....and be able to splurge on some of Anguilla's *fancy* restaurants. And St. Maarten and all its' shopping is just a ferry away. Another site that might be fun for you to explore is www.luxurylink.com They have some great auctions and specials on some of the upscale properties. I have never bid, but people I trust have had very good experiences with them. Good luck Jenny ! |
Jenny,
We're splitting it up 5 days in St. Barts and 5 days in Anguilla. I found a hotel deal in St. Barts for 217 Euros/night including breakfast on the hotel's website: http://www.sofitel.com/sofitel/gb/evader/index.shtml Here's some pictures: http://www.hotel-caribbean.com/cgi-b...hotelcode=CHR# If you are interested in addtional information about St. Barts, try this: http://www.sbhonline.com/ Click on "Visions of St. Barts" for gorgeous pictures of the island. My view is as long as I'm there, I want to see as much as I can because God knows if I'll ever get back again. Lot of other people feel different and want to stay in one place. The islands are different enough and contrast each other. Where Anguilla is flat with beautiful beaches and great restaurants ... that's about it, St. Barts is mountainous with lush vegetation, small secluded beaches, great restaurants, no poverty you see in some of the other islands and more of a European flavor. Like they say, different strokes for different folks! |
