Most romantic vacation??

What was your most romantic island destination? Also, where did you stay and why did you like it so much?

Mine was Aruba Marriott. Loved the waterfalls in the the swimming pool, the swim up pool bar, laying by the pool at night while the pool was iluminated with under water lights and the palm trees swaying.

Also, we really enjoyed walking the beach, day and night.

Susan, you forgot to mention the smell of sewage when you walk along Eagle Beach. Oh, and just to clarify, palm trees are only planted along the resorts and you'll see cactus everywhere else.

I come here expecting to see wonderful romantic hide-a-ways that are cozy, charming and designed for seclusion and privacy, some of the out-of-the-way small islands with only one resort, the best of dining and intimacy with pristine beaches and I find Aruba and the Marriott no less. We know that each makes their own romance but some settings are just more condusive to romance and itimacy! Which are they? And, pul...eeze, no Aruba!

Grenada (Secret Harbour) tops my list for land-based romance. But for me, nothing is better than a bareboat sail with just my husband (instead of our usual trip with friends). Our last sail was in the BVI, and we simply sailed from one lovely anchorage to another, most of which offered privacy not much further than a dinghy ride away. We went ashore for meals or cocktails when we felt like being sociable, or stretched out on the deck, watching the stars above (or the bioluminesence below) whenever the mood struck. We'd fall asleep with the breeze wafting through our hatches, and the sounds of the water. After more than a dozen years of marriage, and 7 years sailing together, we are in synch with each other, and loved not having to answer to our friends' schedules or quirks, having only to please ourselves. Counting the days til the next sail...
