Mosquito Bay in Vieques without spending the night?

We just decided to take an impromptu trip to PR in 11 days. We would like to go to Mosquito Bay but don't want to spend the night. Island adventures says you have to spend the night to go on their tour. I can't seem to find any other info except the ferry only leaves twice a day but does anyone know of any other way to see it?

thanks in advance.

It's not possible. You can't leave Vieques by ferry or by plane after dark, so you would need to spend the night.

There are biolumenescent bays on mainland PR, but I have heard that they are not as sparkly as Vieques'.

Why don't you just spend the night and take in some more of the island and its amazing beaches? Vieques is awesome.

There are other bioluminescent bays in Puerto Rico, including one just north of Fajardo at Laguna Grande in the Reserva Natural Las Cabezas de San Juan and La Parguera on the south shore. Either of those would offer a similar---though certainly not as spectacular---experience, particularly if you have no moon. That's the key for the lesser bays; if it's cloudy or moonless, your experience is enhanced tremendously. But I agree with the other posters and say spend the night on Vieques if you can.

Well, if money were no object and time the thing most precious to you, you could always charter a helicopter over to Vieques & back for the biobay.

I just returned from PR and Vieques myself, and on the Island Adventures tour, the guide addressed some folks on the busride to the bay who were not staying overnight but going back to the "mainland". I don't know what method they chose, but at least it confirms the possibility of not having to stay on Vieques (though like the previous posters, I would certainly encourage you to do so!).
