Morningstar beach

I've been thinking of going to Marriott Frenchman's Reef on morningstar beach in St. Thomas, but I've seen posts in other forums commenting on how rough the water is. I tend to like very calm water; I've been to Turks and Caicos, the Bahamas and Antigua and found all those beaches great. Any experience?

While the water at Morningstar is wavy, not really rough, and it can be fun, it does not compare to the quiet, placid waters off the beaches of St. John which I feel you prefer. The beach there is lovely with white powdery sand as well as the beaches of St. John.

We had the opportunity to spend one day at this beach on a cruise we were on. The day we were there the water was not at all rough. This was in January. It was a nice beach and calm that day.

We stayed at the Marriott Morningstar which is located directly on Morningstar Beach in Janaury '04. The water was calm with occasional breaks. I agree with the other poster regarding the beaches on St. John.

We were at the Morningstar for a week in November, 2003. The water was very calm and hardly a ripple in the waves. If you can, try to stay at the Morningstar property directly on the beach (you can always walk or shuttle up the hill to the Reef).
The beach is pretty, however try to go over to Coki or Sapphire.
