Montserrat Volcano Video

Hi all,

I found this great video of someone flying over Montserrat - the volcano is amazing!

I have to agree with the author - I'm not sure I'd want to spend my Caribbean vacation on this island....

Perhaps the author needs to spend a little more time on the island. We have visited there the past two years & loved it. Please feel free to read my trip reports. (I wasn't able to get the video to pop up, btw).

We were actually right by the old exlusion zone in '06 & were able to enter some of the buildings on the ridge above Plymouth. They moved the zone father north last time we were there (last March). If you would like to have a black sand beach all to yourself...this IS the place.

That's a neat video. I'd love to go to Montserrat. I met a very nice man from there at the San Juan airport a couple years ago. He had fascinating stories to tell about the 1995 eruption.

Maybe someday we'll make it there...

Put this into perspective. Would you be willing to drive (yes drive) into the caldera of the world's largest active volcano? Would you take your kids there. What if I said the it is expected that the next eruption is likely to kill millions of people? What if I mentioned that the geologists think this volcano erupts quite regularly and that it is well past due for another eruption?

The volcano I'm talking about is the major feature of Yellowstone National Park.
