Montego Bay or Puerto Vallarta?

My two girlfriends and I (in our late 20s) are trying to decide between Montego Bay and Puerto Vallarta for a March 2005 vacation. We are looking for a nice beach, nice pool and decent food. Any input you can provide is appreciated.

For Jamaica, Negril/1.5 hours from MoBay would suit you better (check out Idle-A-While). MoBay's more like Acapulco...

I have never been to Acapulco - can you explain? Thanks.

Like Acapulco in Mexico, MoBay was one of the first Jamaica's resort areas -- and an entire city and port have grown up around it. It's a city, with resort areas stretched along the coast on either side of town -- and a honky-tonk stretch intown (Margarittaville/Doctor's Cave -- the 'hip strip' on Gloucestershire Blvd. For beach, pool, food and a place 3 women in late 20's would find of considerably more interest, with more to see/do, let alone a walkable 7-mile beach, Negril would be preferable and more akin to Puerto Vallarta in style, tone and spirit.
