We will be going to Grand Cayman for a week in February and staying on Seven Mile Beach. We will have a car for the week. There will be four of us, all adults, and we would like to find some moderately priced (not cheap) restaurants for dinner with good food. Atmosphere is much less important. Any suggestions will be much appreciated!

I have a trip report from last December where I noted the restaurants and I believe the general prices. Where are you staying on Seven Mile Beach?

We found Grand Cayman to be pretty pricey due to the conversion.

One of our favorite restaurants and mod. price is Calypso--just about 10-15 min. drive from 7-Mile. with wonderful food and location. Also try Ragazzi across from 7-Mile. We also like EATS particularly for lunch. Surprisingly, the more moderate restaurant at the Ritz on the canal side is good and more moderate. There's lots of wonderful dining on GC much of it can be expensive.

We loved, loved, loved Seymore's jerk chicken by the airport. It is just a take-out jerk shack, but fabulous and we would get it for lunch and some sting ray beer and take it all back to the beach.

Roland's Garden is awesome - a little drive from Seven Mile Beach area but well worth it! Roland does everything himself and you eat what he gives you and pay what you think the food was worth - My family said it was the highlight of our trip - BYOB

Our favorite is Casanova's. Moderately priced, great food, and friendly waiters.

Calico Jacks right on 7 Mile beach was our favorite restaurant bar. You can sit barefoot at tables on the sand if you want. Their jerk chicken was to die for!!!

We are staying at Cayman Kai in the north side. Can anyone suggest good restaurants in that area?

Your restaurant options around Cayman Kai are:

Kaibo Yacht Club: casual downstairs beach bar & grill open everyday for lunch and dinner. Tuesday's have a live band and Cayman BBQ. More formal upstairs open Friday - Sunday. Usually have fun theme type dinners during he month.

Rum Point Club: The Wreck Bar for lunch and drinks until 5:00. The better Rum Point Club restaurant for dinner Tuesday - Saturday nights.

Diftwood Bar & Grill: Dinner every night and lunch most days. Casual, inexpensive beach bar. Sunday BBQ.

Over the Edge: Great casual and less pricey place for fresh seafood. Don't be put off if you get a server who is rude (owner's wife).

Portofino: about 15-20 minutes on the East End.

Roland's Garden: search it out, a unique experience www.chefroland.com

The Lighthouse: 15 minutes away in Breakers. More formal, very good.

Southcoast Bar & Grill: near the Lighthouse. Casual local fare.

Check www.caymangoodtaste.com for other options in East End and Bodden Town (think Jerk shacks).

In addition to TurtleTagger's list, I would add the beach bar at the Reef Resort on the east end (fun & casual, reasonable prices) and David's restaurant and the beach bar at the Morritt's Resort on the east end. I haven't eaten at David's recently, but the others were all great this winter.
