Mid range Hotel in san Juan

Can anyone tell me of a hotel in San Juan that's not a cheapie/moldy one, yet not the ritz. Looking to spend no more the 200.00 a night. March 8-10.

Check out the following:

Howard Johnson's
Holiday Inn Express
Hampton Inn
Embassy Suites
Courtyard by Mariott
El Canario Inn
El Canario By the Lagoon
El Canario by the Sea
ESJ Towers

All are on Isla Verde or Condado within 10 to 15 minutes of Old San Juan and either on or within a couple of blocks of the beach.

I'd recommend two places: At Wind Chimes in Condado, or Numero Uno Guesthouse in Ocean Park (the latter with a very nice restaurant called Pamela's). Both of these are smaller, modest inns, but they're both good.

Coral Princess Inn - A boutique hotel. Very nice, but affordable. Right across from the beach (by Mariott). Marble baths, nice, clean rooms, roof-top hot tub, and breakfast included.

What about the Normandie? I visited it this summer (did not stay there), but it seemed to be on the moderately priced range, and was very close to OSJ.

The Normandie is great, but it's often more than $200 a night (it also has a great restaurant). The beach there isn't so great, but you're pretty close to Condado, and there's a nice little beach right on the other side of the bridge by the Condado Plaza Hotel.

Several years ago we stayed at the www.elpradoinn.net It is close to the beach. At the time it was a toss up between Wind Chimes in Condado. It was o.k. Not the Ritz by any stretch of the imagination. If you are only planning on one or 2 nights it is o.k. It was very cheap. I would not stay any longer than 2 nights. You can check out tripadvisor. I think I paid $135 per night and that was the nicest room. It was post cruise.

Hola Wash1127...our family of 4 stayed at the Hampton Inn in early January near the airport, $160 a night, close to Casinos, 2 blocks from beach. Nice pool, restaurants across the street. Nice place to stay...good luck
