I probably would have suggested Grand Cayman but don't know what shape the hospital is in now.

I travel to St Kitts often and San Juan is the best in the caribbean and closet for us. I belong to Travelers Emergency Network which will fly you out from wherever you are. You may want to look into it.

I live in the islands and agree that San Juan's Pavea (sp?) Hospital is the best in this region. Whenever we have had medical emergencies that we cannot get back to the mainland US for, that is where we've been sent.

Aruba has very good medical facilities.

Another thing to consider is trip insurance that covers medical evacuation - no matter how good the hospital, once he is stable medically, he may prefer to receive care in US but may not be able to fly commercial plane.

Also, if you have Medicare supplement, please check to see if it covers out of US care.

If you set all this up, you probably won't need it - so have a good trip.
