mayan palace scam
ninecat....congratulations on getting your money back. We, too, were scammed. Big time. Currently, $5200!
How did you finally get your money back? Who did you go through?
Anybody else have any advise on where to go for help?
Thanks!

I was also scammed with timeshare in Mexico. Many of them are scams,
especially in Mexico. I didn't get my money back (maybe because I didn't think about requesting it). I just wanted out of my timeshare contract.
I found an article about timeshare scams in Mexico and it provided a consumer agency (Procuraduria Federal Del Consumidor) website: profeco.gob.mx/. I filed a complaint and several weeks later I received a letter from the resort cancelling my contract and offering a free week! I imagine that it may be helpful to contact the consumer agency for that
particular country. I hope this helps!

This reminds of a quote by a famous circus entreprenuer.
They can't take it unless you give it to them. Take care with your money, especially in a foreign country. You don't have American agencies to protect you.

We were scammed by Mayan Palace too. I found the website http://www.mayanresorts.info/ to be very helpful. It shows how to get together with other victims and launch a class action lawsuit against the Mayan Palace.

I'm glad that your issue was resolved. Mine is now resolved too, but what a hassle it was to get a final solution. They completely lied in the presentation, then when we tried to cancel, they were uncooperative, unresponsive and downright rude. I finally had to hire representation to help me out of this nightmare, however, Mayan Palace needs to be stopped! This is a good article about Mayan Palace:
