Marriott St. Kitts Hotel Rooms Which One

At the Marriott St. Kitts- it seems you can stay in the main building and then there are separate north rooms (with their own pool) and south room (with their own pool).
What are these north & south rooms? Does one have a sunnier pool than the other?
The north & south rooms seem to be quieter (in my opinion) as they are not part of the main building and seem to be out of the main travel areas. Is this the case?

My husband and I would be traveling there for rest & relaxation. We have no kids. During the day, we like to hang out at the beach/pool area. At night, after drinks/dinner, we are very low-key.

Any comments-positive or negative are welcome. Thanks for your help!

For Marriott-related questions, I'd say the best place to go is their Marriott Rewards Insider community. If you're a Rewards member, it's a solid resource to get information from other frequent Marriott customers.

The mega Marriott hotel building is set back quite a ways from the beach, with the large pools between that building and the beach. The rooms you are asking about probably are located in the individual timeshare buildings which are closer to the beach. Not sure if they are quieter, we were in the main building, facing away from the beach (view of mountains and golf course) and I did not find it noisy at all. But the smaller buildings seem appealing, however, I think I rememember that some of those rooms do not have balconies so if that is important to you make sure you check that out, also just because they are closer to the beach doesn't mean the necessarily have a view.

We are not Marriott Rewards Insider members!!

Thanks Eileen for the detailed response!!

Thanks for the insight, Eileen.

Lmaev - You should sign up! The Marriott Rewards program is free to join, and there are a lot of benefits (including the extremely informative Insiders site).

Good luck in St. Kitts!

We just returned from the Marriott last month. We stayed at one of the villas and it was very nice. We did have a balcony though some rooms don't, so you should probably look into them. We didn't pay extra for the villa, though I'm not sure if that's because I complained about the room they wanted to give me in the main hotel. Even though you are going to stay in the main hotel, you can still use either of the small pools. I actually found them to be very quiet but windy..so I ended up being at the main pool with my kids.
We loved the island and hotel. It was a great vacation and I'm hoping to go to Nevis next year.
If you do go, make sure you eat dinner outside of the hotel. There are so many good restaurants in St. Kitts

AlyceA- I am looking at the St KItts MArriott for my honeymoon in Aug. My fiance is low key and not real social. Wants quiet time and Im not sure we can get this at Sandals, cruise, etc. For financial reasons, I think all inclusive would be the best,.,. but you mention great restaurants. Do the majority of the guests at the Marriott not do ai?

I don't recommend going all inclusive in St. Kitts. There are lots of great restaurants within walking distance to the Marriott. A short walk down the street (on the Caribbean side) you will find many fun and inexpensive beach bars/restaurants.

A website you might find helpful is www.myislands.myeyez.net

If you are considering the Marriott St. Kitts (which I do not recommend for a honeymoon, I found it to be "charmless" and I stayed free so would not pay for it) definitely consider Nevis as previously suggested and check out Nisbet Plantation Beach Club -- one of our favorite resorts and they have a meal plan included. Lots of Caribbean charm, peace and quiet, romantic.

agree with hideaway7 and eileen- we were given a room at the Marriott St. Kitts for 5 nights as part of our honeymoon. We checked out after one night and got the rest of the points back for our relatives and went to Ottley's, which I can't recommend highly enough. It didn't help that there happened to be a convention there at the time, but the Marriott was loud, impersonal, and could have been anywhere.

That said, if you're set on staying there, the beach was nice and is one of few on St. Kitts, and it's in a good location.

I guess I will throw a wrench in the plans! We have stayed at the Marriott in St. Kitts 3 times and loved it in the outer buildings. The plantation inns are wonderful, as well. However, if you choose the Marriott, I would definitely ask for ocean front/view. All of the pools are good, but the main one has lots of kids and, as a teacher with out personal kids, avoid it! The beach is windy. I am also not a fan of all- inclusive, and agree that there are so many restaurants on the island to visit in all price ranges.
I am also a big fan of Nevis. Love the island, but not as many options for getting out as St. Kitts has to offer.
