I was just curious if you have had any luck with the search for a place on Harbour Island?Hopefully you have.:)
|
OOPS!!I just discovered that now you are looking at Negril...good luck!!Talk to Tiver (Im sure that you already know that);)
|
Thanks Christie...no I've had no luck on Harbour Island.
But you can see what I'm up to now under "Nevis Villas...please help" I've always wanted to explore Nevis and didn't realize that homes were available there. Sometimes a cloud has a silver lining or some other approprite cliche from my generation ;-) Marion |
I need more coffee...actually you are looking at Nevis.I know nothing about it but would love to go there one day as it sounds like a relaxing place.
|
Marion - I am sending you an email :)
|
MIM:
I'm sure that you can really help her since you have family on Nevis.Am I correct? |
Christie,
If you'd like some info about Nevis, take a look at Nevis1.com. It's a great, non-commercial site with a lot of appropriate (just to correct my spelling error :-)) information and fun to read. Marion |
Christie - yes my mom has lived there for 9+ years and I am in the buying property and building a villa there.
|
MIM,
Thanks for the email and thanks for helping with my scattered thought process. MIM has been SO helpful to me. For anyone contemplating a visit to Nevis, she is the expert on this board !! Marion |
Marion:Thanks..I will check it out and who knows...our next trip could be Nevis instead of Negril. ;) Its so hard to choose.
MIM:Thats great that you are buying property and building a villa. Are you going to move there or just use the villa for vacation? |
Thanks Marion. :) I am delighted to help!
Christie - In the short-term it will be for vacation and rental. Long-term we are planning to retire somewhere in the Caribbean, possibly Nevis. I lived in St Thomas and the Turks and Caicos and I know I do not want to retire to either of those locations. Of course we always have retiring to St Barths in the back of our minds :) |
My husband would like to retire in Kauai oneday. My only problem with Kauai is that it is too far for visiting family which lives in NC.The Caribbean is much closer but we still have many years before this will happen.;)
While we were in St John..my husband was approached by a builder who was trying to talk us into moving to St john now.My husband is an Electrical Contractor and the guy whos name is Woody said that it is hard to find a good one in St John.He said that he could guarantee my husband a certain salary which is less than what it would be here at home.(of course):)For me it was very tempting but my husband has so much work at home that it would be hard to move right now. Also the guy has work in Puerto Rico as well so my husband would have to travel alot. |
Could you change the subject heading ?
I'm still a little wary of seeing my name in a box ;-) Thanks ! Marion |
Marion:
How do you change the subject heading.I am sorry.:) |
Christie..
I guess you really can't change it. I was just suggesting that if you want to discuss retiring/relocating to the Caribbean, you should start a new thread. Which is probably what I should have asked ;-) Marion |
Sorry..I just started rambling on when MIM mentioned that she was buying land and building a villa on Nevis.I guess that I will start a new thread. ;)
|
Christie, I don't know when you are going to start a new thread regarding possibly moving to the Caribbean especially St. John, but I did want to say that Woody is right about the need for electricians on St. John. I'm not sure what the licensing procedures are but I will let you know. If your husband starts his own business, I'd bet he could make more than NC. Puerto Rico is also only 45 miles away so it's really not bad traveling. I have interest in such things because my husband and I are building in St. John and have encountered a hard time getting quality work at reasonable prices. We are developers/builders back home. I think the U.S. Virgin Islands is a great retirement choice.
