Malliouhana ??
I'm looking for a relaxing quiet vacation, and came accross a place in Anguilla called Malliouhana. The website and pictures make it seem very nice, but looking for some input from anyone who might have been there... Any thougths???
thanks |
I would stay at Cap Juluca before Malliouhana. They are both beautiful, but I think Cap Juluca is not as "stuffy" and I like the property better. The food is great at both, but we enjoyed Cap Juluca more. Plus I think the beach at Cap Juluca is better...

MIM04, If you were staying at Cap, would you bother with going to dinner at Malli though? Or is Altamer better?
|
For what it is worth, we've had a couple of fabulous meals at Altamer. The restaurant is visually stunning, the service is very attentive, the food outstanding and the chef always personally visited our table to make sure everything was to our satisfaction. Our dinner at Malliouhana was also quite good but I give Altamer the nod. It's one of our favorites but there are so many terrific restaurants on Anguilla it's hard to single out just one as being head and sholders above the others..

The best part about Anguilla is the many restaurants on the island. Certainly Pimms, Kemia and Georges are perfect spots to dine and relax while staying at CJ but its nice to go to all
the many choices. Malli is stunning, extensive menu, wine cellar-certainly a great choice. Altamer, Blanchards, Covecastles all excellent. I have stayed at Malli, the junior suites above the private Turtle Cove are very nice. The new spa is huge. My personal hotel choice is Cap Juluca, so it really depends on what you want. |
Peggy - No I really would not bother, its very nice, but as Penny mentioned there are so many great restaurants there, I dont think its anything special compared to some others. The restaurant is beautiful, but I think there is better food to be had elsewhere. Yes, altamer is great!

Lunch at Malli is wonderful, though. The view is breathtaking and the Malli Salad of Crayfish and Bacon is a "must-do" for me.
|
Perfect idea....lunch at Malli's as we explore for the day & dinner at Altamer! Thank you...again..didn't mean to interrupt the post vacationfan but sounds like good info for both of us...

thanks for the responses. I tried Cap Juluca, but they didn't have any availability, but Malliouhana does. I noticed that Malli has an extensive kids area....does anyone know if this more or a family resort. I'm looking for a quite place without kids.
|
It really depends on what time of the
year you are going-such as Easter week etc. Malli is very nice, the Pirate Ship play area is set back from the beach. I think Cusinart gets most of the children. Have you checked out covecastles--very very quiet. |
Malliouhana is spread out so even if there are families there you will not be close by unless you want to be. They have more than one pool; they have more than one beach; there is more than one restaurant. Kids generally prefer to be near the Children's Place, which has the priate ship and Bistro. Kids eat dinner in the main dining room before 7:30. It's a wonderful resort with great food and service. I prefer the rooms at Cap Juluca because they are closer to the beach, but sometimes prefer the less crowded feeling at Malliouhana (Cap Juluca can be busy with wedding parties). If Cap Juluca is full, you may want to give Malliouhana a try.

Penny...i'm thinking of going in mid-june.
Anyone know about the kids at Malli vs. cuisinart at in june? |
Hi again vacationfan ~
we toured all of the big 3 hotels (Mali, Cap and Cuisinart) and if I had to choose, I'd probably pick Cuisinart. Keep in mind at Mali you have to climb a big stairwcase to get to and from the beach as the hotel sits on a cliff. Not sure if that is a big deal or not but some people like to just walk out of their room and be at the beach. |
I've taken kids (teenagers) to Malli in June and to Cuisinart in June. Malli was dead. Only ten rooms were booked and I had two fo them. Cuisinart was busier.
|
I have no idea how busy June will be,
but I think there are no major weeks off from USA schools, until summer break which can vary thru out the states. Just 2 weeks ago, the week after Easter week, Cuisinart's pool was full of kids. I really think this is the more kid friendly resort. We only spotted 3 children at a full CJ, no weddings. The week before it was full of families. Like Ann said, Malli would be a good choice. |
